Inkungu Lodge

The location is out of this world. Very beautiful area. The breakfast was exellent with enough choices. The character of the Lodge is very unique with the household content rich in history. The staff was great, very helpful and the interaction very good,

Attention to detail can be better e.g. make sure there is a plug that works with the hairdryer (I am sure if we had to ask they would have provided, my wife had her own). The aircon did not work, assume the batteries were dead. Did not bother us as we had the heating panel and heater available, but for the price you pay, you would expect these things are checked before you arrive. Our room did not have sattlelite channels, although advertised as such. There was sattelite tv availble in the lounge area though, but we did not bother. I would just recommend removing it from the specific room advertised if it is not available in that room. My understanding is that there were other rooms with sattelite tv, but not in all rooms.

It’s lovely and quiet with lots of lounge areas. We enjoyed the view from the patio. The views were amazing!!!

The WiFi isn’t the greatest

The food was good. We ate breakfast and dinner on most days and there was good options.

Staff was friendly and the location was nice.

For an executive suit I expected much more: Bigger beds, especially for couples. At least queen. Crisp white linnen - no duvet on bed. Throw that covered bed and scatters were old and can do with a re-cover or make-up of new scatter covers and bed throw. No gowns or slippers were provided. No shampoo or conditioner, only shower gel. You would expect at least a biscuit or rusk for early morning tea in the room. No bottels of water were provided in the room and tv channels were very limited. Could not even watch the golf. Chair in room 6’s foot was broken. Also the carpets can do with a new installation as they are old and needs to be replaced. Dinner - no music were provided in dining area, candles to set an atmosphere on tables? Paper napkins are used instead of proper fabric napkins. Double salt and pepper pots on tables not needed. Lit the fire, even if it is warm. It sets a nice cosy atmosphere which you expect in the Drakensberg. Pork belly was def heated up several times. Was very dry. However the beef fillet was well prepared. Breakfast was pleasant, but yet again, set tables outside of the patio for customers to enjoy the view. No background music. Wanted to play chess - chess pieces are missing. I think we totally overpaid for the stay. You do expect much more from a boutique hotel.
