Lovely hotel, friendly owner and helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable (and as advertised in photos) with lovely view of the port and Marina (paid a bit extra). Nice to have tea/coffee facilities and mini fridge in room. Location excellent, 10 min walk from train station, although there is a bus (1A?), 10 min bus ride (No. 8) from station to ferry terminal. Lots of bars/restaraunts/shops etc. nearby, unfortunately, we arrived on Sunday afternoon and most were closed but we did find somewhere for a drink and to eat not far away. Great choice of breakfast buffet where everyone's taste catered for, cereals, croissant, eggs, ham, cheese, toasted pancakes, fresh fruit etc. Only stayed one night as waiting for ferry but we plan to return and stay longer so we can see more of Cherbourg. We did see the robot waiter but think he was 'en grève' (on strike!) , maybe next time... Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cherbourg. Thank you to all at Ambassadeur.

Modern portside comfort

A modern, comfortable hotel with very pleasant views across the outer harbour. I enjoyed my stay here which took the sting out of a cancelled ferry. I will certainly remember it for the future. They provided gluten free items for breakfast on request. I felt my single room was excellent value for money.

Got to Cherbourg, used booking.com to find the Ambassador hotel in 5 minutes. Perfect location in town. Easy to get to,

Very convenient for ferry. Parking behind hotel. All the facilities you don’t always get in a hotel these days. Tea and coffee in room, proper cups, glass jars in toilets.

Great location and I had a super room overlooking the port. The hotel is very modern in a warm way. The staff were very helpful and there is a little gym too!

Excellent place to stay in the town centre.

A really comfortable place to stay right on the quay in Cherbourg’s town centre… dead handy for the ferry user like me. The room was just fine, and the breakfast was superb: plentiful and varied.

A small friendly hotel which was excellent value for money. Clean, comfortable and easy and cheap to park in the public car park immediately behind. Friendly and helpful staff with a good value breakfast at €12 each. We also loved the robot waiter! Perfect for an overnight stay before catching the ferry home. If you have time the Cite De La Mer is a 10 minute walk and worth a visit!

The soundproofing between rooms was very poor and if you have a noisy neighbour you will definitely hear them!

The Ambassadeur Hotel was exactly what was advertised. It is perfectly situated for our one night stay before getting the ferry back to Ireland. Breakfast buffet was a perfect. I recommend this hotel.

The information we received about overnight parking could have been more clear. We worried about being clamped and decided to move the car before breakfast just in case.

A well located old fashioned hotel with everything you need and excellent staff.

Located close to the ferry port and town. An old fashioned hotel . Lovely the gadgets … robot, orange making machine ! The staff were very helpful as soon as we arrived with our bicycles. Breakfast was lovely. Room clean and spacious with lovely bathroom with deep bath.

A pleasant surprise to find the hotel exceeded our expectations, in the quality of accommodation.

The room was superb, tastefully decorated and immaculately clean, as was the shower room, which was provided with quality towels and very nice toiletries. The lift was most welcome for someone with a knee problem, as was the free parking behind the hotel. The location was ideal for exploring the town centre and the port.

Nice room, was charged a deposit before arrival without any warning

Room was nicer than expected for the price but still nothing special (not that it's expected). Staff on check-in were lovely. Exceptional service. Staff at checkout were a bit more callous, but thats business! No complaints Was charged a deposit equal to the amount 30 minutes after i booked, no prior warning or mention of it anywhere. They then charged my card on arrival. Im travelling for medical reasons, didnt bring a load of money because I didnt need to. This charge brought me below the amount i needed to book my train the next day, and i didnt get my money back til 3 hours after checking out. Missed my train, appointment in the hospital etc and had to book another hotel for the second night.

Weekend trip to Cherbourg

We were upgraded to a superior room overlooking Cherbourg marina which was beautiful. Breakfast was very good & lots of different food to choose from. Staff very courteous and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing visit to Cherbourg.

Lovely stay and perfect before taking the Ferry, would recommend at least 2 nights to see more

The location was great for walking around the centre of town and visiting some of the tourist sites. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

We had no complaints about our stay only we should have booked a few extra nights, 1 night was too short.

Reasonably priced, comfy and close to the station.

Staff were really welcoming and helpful, and answered all my questions and gave some helpful advice. The room was pretty quiet for a fully booked hotel, the bed was comfortable and the room had everything I needed. It was very well located for the train station, (only a 10min walk away and easy to find). Outside was quiet and you couldnt hear traffic. All in all a comfy and reasonably priced stay.

The room did not look over a courtyard, but it was Monday and the road was quiet so it wasnt a problem.The bathroom was slightly strangely set up (the shower and sink is open to the main room, and the toilet was in a separate room). It wasn't an issue, it was just a bit unusual.

Duvet far too heavy for the time of year. Seems all hotels make the same mistake. Shame about the all night party in the nearby building but that wasn't the fault of the hotel.

The receptionist was friendly and welcoming and did his best to give us a sea view or town view room. The room was clean and tidy and the breakfast was so delicious. It was local to everything and it's highly recommended and we wish we could stayed longer. Olfa

Once again the ambassueduer, made us feel welcomed, comfortable and couldn't do enough for us.

Although breakfast was lovely, please bring back big crusty baguette and proper size croissant, what we think of as part of petit dejunuer with butter and jam 😋😋
