Perfect location for a stroll around York, small shops nearby and access to the kitchen is a good help for saving some money on eating out. Plenty of entertainment with board games,puzzles, instruments and a tv in the lounge. Lovely helpful staff.

The double rooms are very cozy. Especially the included bathroom was welcome, as it is not always the case.
Some parts of the public rooms and places could be a little cleaner. However, it was not bad.

Staff were really friendly and helpful and the hostel its self was quite.
The building is in need of a refurbishment, there was paint peeling and the wall paper was not in good repair, the room we stayed in the window didn't close properly so we could hear the noise of the road outside which kept us awake much of the night. I knew we were staying in a hostel so wasn't expecting the Ritz but for over £200 for 2 night I would expect at least a window that closed properly.
