We booked a self-contained room of 4, as a family for a 2-day stay in York. The place was well located ( within walking distance from some tourist attractions, and only a cheap uber ride away from other places). We particularly appreciated having access to a kitchen and utensils etc... for a quiet evening meal. Other guests were considerate which helps a lot in a hostel environment. Other facilities included a garden and lounge and laundry which we didn't use , but could nontheless appreciate . The friendly staff was the cherry on top. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable!

A bit far away from city centre (walkable/by bus from York train station), overall good staff service, stable bed, clean room with fan provided, but there has stairs only in the building

I stayed here for five nights whilst doing some remote work in York for about a month, and tried Astor as an alternative to where I usually stayed. My first impressions were very good. I was warmly welcomed by Patrick and the rest of the staff and I was impressed by the cleanliness of facilities and rooms. The beds were very comfortable, there was daily housekeeping, which ensured a high standard of cleanliness, and the showers were amongst the best that I've seen in hostels around Britain. I also really appreciated the lengthy quite hours, especially as it's in a residential area, so it helps to ensure a good night of sleep. It is also only a 15 minute walk from the main bus and train stations, so very convenient. I recommend 100% and will definitely stay again when in York.
