M's Hotel Sanjo Omiya

We really enjoyed our stay here, it's right next to the covered street market where you can find convenience stores, groceries, little restaurants and the famous Kyoto creme brulee doughnut! Walking distance to the train and bus stations. If you want shopping and more western options, this may not be the place for you, but for us we love the quiet neighborhood and the stroll around the castle.

I am surprised how connvenient the hotel with to visit around Kyoto attraction and shopping. Everything is just few stops away. I find Omiya station is the best, just straight down the street even though a little ling walk.

While the room was notably spacious, our overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the high price point. The room itself felt somewhat claustrophobic because the window was made of opaque glass, offering no view at all, and it could only be opened a tiny bit for fresh air. The service also left much to be desired. The reception staff were not particularly hospitable, and the security system was more of a nuisance than a convenience. Having to manually enter a PIN code every single time we entered the building and the room was tedious; a standard key card would have been much more efficient. To make matters worse, when a staff member opened the door for us once, they were quite cold and strictly reminded us to use the code instead of being welcoming. Practicality was another issue. Housekeeping is only provided once every three days, and using the onsite washing machine is overpriced at 400 yen. Furthermore, the location is rather inconvenient and 'out of the way,' requiring a long walk to reach the nearest subway station. Given these factors, the hotel simply does not offer good value for the money.
