The staff were pleasant and the meal we had was nice .the bed was comfortable
Only had one pillow each ..the bed was comfy...very basic for the money room has kettle ..cups and tea..coffee etc ..but for 2 guests only 1 chair to sit on .. does not have any extras in the room ie hair dryer ...and no mirror in the bathroom ....handle missing off one of the windows so lucky we didn't need to use the window .. traffic throughout the night was continuous and there is a clock out there which chimes 5 strikes every 15 mins so didn't get much sleep over the 2 night stay ...also misleading regarding parking as they don't have a car park we had to park in the carpark opposite and was fine there luckily ...also we didn't know until we got there on the Tuesday that the kitchen is not open on a weds so no food was available ..so we went out to eat ...also where our room is you can access it from the bar but not always so you need to go outside and use a separate door on the street to get to your room ..we stayed on a Tuesday and weds night ... .I probably won't stay there again. ..as it wasn't for me as found the car parking and the kitchen not being open on the weds a bit of a surprise as didn't know that until we actually got there and as it said they had free parking we was told that they no longer have it as building company had taken over it when we asked at the bar where the cra park is but when I book places I always check for parking so felt but disappointed in that as was misleading in the booking reference .... The location is ideal. But there is more hotel parking and parking on the square is restricted to disc parking. So, had to park in Tesco. The breakfast was good,, but not served until 10000 and was not included in the room rate. Dinner was good and service was OK but amateur.
We were informed that breakfast was not included. We had to pay separately. Also it was not available until 1000.
Bot Friday and Saturday nights there was loud music in Workies Bar and people leaving at 2 AM. We did not get much sleep. The beds were old and uncomfortable. Though the rooms were clean. My sister's room the heating did not work and the TV kept coming on automatically. So we had to unplug it. There was only bars of soap available and no shampoo. The bar staff were businesslike, but not over friendly.

Location is great, staff very friendly.
Clean and comfortable - but the facilities in the rooms are very basic.
Basic hotel

Clean, warm well appointed rooms -apparently built where a night club used to be! Easy location - parking on the street
No food be eaten in the rooms which was a shame with a pizzaplace just across the road. When you turn off the main light an eerie green security light comes on so the room doesn't go dark -so it was bit hard to get to sleep. If I end up staying there again I'll take an eye mask

Right in the heart of the town, with a lively evening bar. Good selection of beers and spirits, and very cheap compared to most venues. Big bedroom with lots of coffee and tea, without needing to bother reception etc.

Pleasant staff. Comfy bed.
It felt basic, but comfortable. Would be really useful to have WiFi code available in room.

Convenient location
Advertises as B and B without breakfast facility. Initially refused accommodation because I had a Hearing Assistance Dog with me. Took some considerable time to persuade manager to allow access.

road outside was very noisy, not the pubs fault

The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. The food was great. Rooms roomy, clean and comfortable. We have used The Bear a few times as we have family locally.
The noise in the street till 2.30 am coming from the local night club on both nights!

The overall cleanliness of the room was satisfactory with basic utilities including a kettle, two cups, a spoon, small milk pots, coffee sachet and sugar but that’s it.
The room was very overpriced for what it was. Both me and my partner were woken up by loud talking, shouting and slamming doors by the people using the pub downstairs. My partner has returned home after the night stay with an infected bite from the bed. Very disappointed and disgusted.

Rooms were good sized, very clean and aired, attractive and comfortable. Very useful having a bar and cafe downstairs and being so near the venues our Norman Nicholson Festival events were being held (and noise didn’t carry!)
For reasonably inexpensive accommodation, all pretty good but a few more hooks/ towel rial in bathroom would be useful plus my entry door was a bit rattle - might need adjustment to stop banging .

Overall, I was quite impressed with the Hotel, it's facilities and the rooms were spotless and well laid out - tea & coffee was plentiful and the room was quite large. Also, there was good soundproofing from downstairs which was a great plus. Shower was also excellent.
The only grumble I had was the heating wasn't switched on before I arrived in the Hotel, the room was freezing cold on arrival and the only source of heat is a wall mounted electric heater - it was a cold evening and it took ages to get warm. The other confusing part is that although it is advertised as a B&B - they don't do any kind of breakfast, which I thought was a bit odd, Maybe next time?

Center of town. Very short walking distance to groceries, shops, and take aways. Easy car park. Both restaurant and pub on the ground floor (family friendly). Recently remodeled rooms/hallways. Free WiFi for guests.
No breakfast, but early morning bakery across the street, Nisa co-op around the corner, and Tesco one block away.
