Akebono an Machiya House

偶然在Booking 上找到這間日式京町屋民宿，沒想到真的很推！雖然我們這次是兩人入住，但和室與洋式的寢室各一間，最多可以入住 4 個人，周圍環境清幽隱密，真的有種貼近在地人生活的感覺，位置在東寺旁，走路就能到東寺站，公車站也滿近的，就算推著行李慢慢走也能平穩走到京都車站，每天出門就能看到東寺這樣代表京都的景色，也是種幸福的體驗。 民宿走出來一小段路就是Aeon，裡面該有的通通都有，超級好逛，差點走不出來😂而且還遇到一個月一次的東寺市集，直接逛斷腿呀～ 民宿內的廚房用具很齊全，在超市買了水果和和牛，簡單料理一下撒點鹽就超好吃！還有洗脫烘洗衣機，連續住好幾天也很方便。 客服人員都很親切，有問題隨時問，中英日都通，他們都很有耐心樂意幫忙。另外如果懶惰，他們也有付費的行李運送服務，可以直接送到櫃檯，真的超方便！ 只是這次剛好冬天又遇到寒流來襲，只要離開暖房範圍就滿冷的，真的會像動畫那樣抗拒離開暖氣去上廁所呢！（笑） 但整體來說住宿體驗相當滿意，對京町家有興趣的人真的該體驗看看！

The inside was renovated well and stylish without being too expensive. Also service from the management company was very helpful and straightforward.

I chose this house primarily because of its location. I stayed in the same neighborhood a year ago, and wanted to come back this time. It's next to To-ji, a famous temple, and the train station and bus station are also nearby. A couple of supermarket in walking distance, too. There are a few local restaurants near the house, but you need to know Japanese to order from the menu. The house is narrow and long with a small living room. There is a small kitchenette hidden in a small closet in the hall way. It has a tiny stove, a tiny sink and a tiny microwave. Everything is functional, but I would not recommend if you want to cook a real meal here.

This house is in a residential area, very hard to find. we should have checked in at the management office near Kyoto station. Instead, we took a taxi and gave the address to the taxi driver. Unfortunately, the taxi driver dropped us off at a wrong house in the neighborhood. We did not realize it until we failed to unlock the door with the security code given us via email. We then tried to call the office (at around 6:30 PM), but couldn't reach anyone. We checked the house on the Google map, but for some reason, Google map kept pointing us to somewhere wrong (a few blocks away). The neighborhood is like a maze, nowhere to find street name or door number. I knew the house is nearby, but walking back and forth for 40 minutes, I couldn't find it. Fortunately, I speak Japanese fluently. I asked a couple of people living there, but they had no clue about this house. And after almost an hour, we finally met this nice gentleman, who used the map on his local smart phone, led us to this house successfully. We couldn't thank him enough. So if you want to stay at this place, you better either check in at the management office, or get a detailed map in Japanese from the host for taxi driver to find it.

I really loved the traditional Japanese setting and ambiance. I had never stayed in a place like this and it was everything I had imagined. The bed was very comfortable. I actually felt a good nights rest. The garden by the living room was a beautiful touch and adds to the ambiance. You really don’t feel like you are in the city. There was many lighting options to suit the needs of everyone. I am also very particular about cleanliness and this place was exceptionally clean. Not one thing seemed to be out of place. I was very comfortable here. Very lovely place.

There wasn’t much that I didn’t like. It was a great stay.
