The Bothy - Feddinch

The bothy‘s location was brilliant for going into St Andrews being only 5 minutes away, there was plenty of seating and we were provided everything we needed for our short two night stay. Definitely worth it

A very relaxing setting for a wonderful cottage with a well stocked kitchen and outdoor seating. Dog friendly but not enclosed so we used a long lead. A washer and air dryer in garden were very useful. The toiletries in the bathroom were a lovely touch. A Morrisons and an M&S are a short drive away.

No dishwasher although we never cooked so it wasn’t a problem for us. Struggled to open some doors although we managed to open one slider in the lounge when it was hot.

Location is 10 out of 10! Beautiful spot out in the countryside yet only 10 mins drive from St Andrews. Private drive with ample parking Very quiet Generous grounds Comfortable beds and good-sized bathroom with decent power in the shower Well equipped kitchen Perfectly peaceful!

We needed to clean glasses/bowls/cutlery in the kitchen before we could use. Kettle needs replaced - v bad limescale so we couldn’t use. Bathroom and kitchen although functional are really quite dated by today’s standards. Could do with a refurb. Shower head loose in bracket so wouldn’t stay up to adjust. Outside decking area, table and chairs should be cleaned down before arrival - algae and bird poop (been there a while!) We did it ourselves for the chairs but the single lounger that’s there needed a hose down so we couldn’t use. The garden isn’t enclosed which is trickier when you have a dog/small children with you. Guide book says £50 fine if dog waste found after your stay which seems unfair when it’s not enclosed! During our stay a dog ventured into the garden area when it was with its owner walking past.

The living area and quietness of the location

It was dated, the beds and linen need replaced, very stained and lumpy beds, had to move rooms from the ground floor, chosen for its location to the bathroom, as it had a musky smell and the beds where uncomfortable, also had to change the duvet on one bed as it had a double duvet in a single bed cover, also no mattress protectors, when I stripped the bed as asked to, the pillows where brown
