Great place to stay and rest

We had such a great stay at Popular Lanta Resort! The bungalows were new and clean with good bathrooms and hot water. Nice seating area in front of each bungalow. We had 2 pools to choose from and the beach is just 5 minutes away walking. The host John was amazing - eager to help with all our needs. Thank you very much for the hospitality! We will be back.

We had a wonderful stay with John, the hotel owner from Portugal, in Koh Lanta. From the very first moment, we felt truly welcome. John is extremely friendly, helpful, and always happy to assist or give local tips about the island. You can definitely expect genuine European-style hospitality – great attention to detail, cleanliness, organization, and warm, personal service. The atmosphere was calm, cozy, and completely stress-free. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Koh Lanta who values sincere hospitality and a high standard of service.

I had the most wonderful stay at Popular and truly couldn’t have asked for more. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, relaxed and completely at home. John and his staff are exceptional host — kind, thoughtful, and genuinely caring. Nothing was too much trouble, and they went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect during my stay. The accommodation itself was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, welcoming, and memorable stay. Thank you, John & his Amazing staff for making my stay memorable ✨🙏💜

We booked for an initial 6 days & ended up staying 12. Great place to stay, room was a bit small but fine & bed was big. If you can get a room at Lanta new beach instead of popular they are bigger. Easy to book tours & rent a scooter from reception. 2x pools, one right on the beach with access to the beach & a bar/resto - absolute selling point of this place for us. Also 7-11 right on the end of the road, so many restaurants nearby. Just be careful of your things outside as we had our motorbike phone holder stolen… we raised it with the owner and he managed to get it back for us and said it was from a guy on drugs who lived on the road….bit odd so just be careful.

Staff tried to give us room with no aircon and wanted us to pay more to upgrade room, although had booked room with aircon on booking.com, was eventually sorted but took some time. Frogs appeared in my friends room (through drain maybe?) so be prepared for some wildlife. Rooms not fully clean.

Average stay, Nice owners…

the location was excellent, right next to the beach and the shop just a few minutes walk, the owner was really friendly, the room was spacious enough, it had everything you need almost, the price was fair and comparable to many others in the area.

I didn’t actually stay here as it is closed, I was put in another hotel owned by the same people 50metres further down the road, not the end of the world, but I chose to stay in individual bungalows instead of a block, and was told my room was upgraded when booked, this wasn’t the case and I got a DOWNGRADE instead! and on the second and third night a travelling Thai in the room next door would wake up at 4am and start making the most awful gobbling and spitting and retching sounds, it was disgusting and enough to wake me up both times and it continued until 7 am even though I told him to shut up to stop being disrespectful, so needless to say I didn’t get much sleep for 2 out of the three nights, the Wi-Fi was very poor in my room, you could pick it up outside on the balcony but virtually nothing in the room, which usually would be fine but I had to work, so obviously I couldn’t do my projects. I explained to the owner who just laughed it off, was going to move to another room (single bungalow) but was quoted higher then the internet price) by about 500baht so I decided to move elsewhere after my stay
