Pros: 1. Immaculate resort. They keep this place spotless. Every part of the grounds are well kept up and it’s even more beautiful in person. 2. I keep seeing night life here at the resort is boring. For us, we found that not to be the case. They had many dance parties of all different genres. Obviously lots of Spanish songs we didn’t recognize, but never once affected us having a blast. 3. Kids club/family side was great. Loved the convenience of having a smaller buffet for kids and having a kids only area on the beach. 4. Dinner was always delicious. Our favorite restaurant was II Tartufo. Wasabi poke bowls were great along with the sushi! Tanuki was a very fun interactive dinner. Focaccia was an easy pizza/pasta dinner restaurant. 5. Beach was beautiful. Obviously it’s summer time and seaweed is an issue wherever you go. We frequently go to the gulf (Panama city) since we have a family beach house there and it’s always going to be an issue with seaweed during the summer. However, they did a wonderful job trying to clean it up when possible. Obviously they couldn’t prevent it, but they did a great job on moving it elsewhere.
Cons: 1. AC is non existent here. We swapped rooms our first night. We didn’t even open the back door and came back to an extremely hot room. We had to beg for a dehumidifier the next day and my husband had to take an uber to town to get a fan to keep our room clean. There’s no air circulation in any of the restaurants. It’s hot and stagnant air to which makes a very uncomfortable dinner unless sitting outside. We are from Alabama so humidity is not new to us. 2. Dinner was delicious, but breakfast and lunch were terrible. Family buffet was easier to manage, but I’d hate to have to survive off the main buffet. It was a complete mad house the one day we tried to eat in there and the food was very unappealing. Lunch was not much better whether it was on the beach from the food truck, the outdoor buffet, or the main buffet. 3. Rude staff. We’ve been to Hyatt Zilara where their staff are INCREDIBLE and maybe we just have extremely high expectations, but the staff here are not friendly. Majority of the time we felt singled out bc we don’t “look” the type who speak Spanish. On one occasion at Cappucino we attempted to order something off the menu to which the waitress said “we don’t have that” and proceeded to speak derogatory about us in Spanish. Very tacky! We watched many people who were waited on in outdoor bar areas with smiles and kindness, while we were completely ignored. This even happened in the family area at breakfast.
