Loved the surroundings, staff were friendly and the breakfast was good but basic.

The property was clean, beautiful surroundings and was peaceful. The staff were very friendly and even helped with our bags.

There was a misunderstanding about the hot drink making facilities in the room. We asked for some sachets and milk but got charged €16 something for tea and coffee which we did ask for but the gentleman didn’t understand fully what we wanted. There was a kettle in the room but nothing else. Apart from that everything was good and we would recommend this hotel.

Great hotel

Fabulous stay and only 10 minutes from Baden Baden if you want to stay nearby but not in the town. Traditional German hotel with all amenities and lovely spacious room with gorgeous views of the vineyards. Hosts extremely helpful and spoke English if needed. Lovely breakfast.

The hotel is a little bit far from Baden Baden city center, and the road is winding and dark at night. The are no restaurants nearby, so you'll have to drive at night, and park in the city.

Everything was perfect the apartment was well equipped, beds was comfortable, and the breakfast was really excellent. Thanks for the hosts for thier kindness and helpfulness they really made our stay perfect. Will definitely come back again.

Not for families with small children, we felt very unwelcome and are not coming back

The hotel is definitely very clean (albeit old), the surrounding area has a small town charm, close to the Forrest and to Baden Baden and a beautiful backdrop of vineyards.

I don’t recommend this place for families (or anyone who enjoys a comfortable bed). The hotel facilities are old and in need of an update. The rooms were spacious and very clean, but the beds and pillows are very uncomfortable. My biggest complain is the female owner. I was traveling with my husband and two young kids (1 and 4 years old), and she was always very intolerant and annoyed by any small request. Breakfast was served by her and her husband and despite finding 2 dead flies in the bacon, it was acceptable. However, she made us feel uncomfortable every morning for a different reason, the last day was the worst. It was the hottest recorded day of the year and very early in the morning the sun was scorching as we were eating our breakfast in the terrace. We decided to move our table slightly to the left to get in the shade and she got very upset, there was nobody else in the terrace, and the only other guests she had, were set up on the opposite corner. She said she was sorry we were burning but the table had to stay as was ( it was a light, easily movable table). We asked to be moved inside and she complied with a very annoyed attitude. When we were inside our kids got under a table to play, that table was not set up and, again, there were no other costumers in the entire restaurant, she once again came to us very annoyed and asked for the kids to go back to our table as she had to disinfect everything now. At this point we left, of course, but she made us feel highly unwelcome and uncomfortable. A little bit of tolerance goes a long way in the restoration industry, and I can only leave a bad review to what is clearly a deteriorating establishment, maybe it’s time for new management?

Comfortable hotel ideally located in a village among picturesque vinyards.

The hosts Gabriele and her husband were very welcoming and gave us lots of useful information about the area. The breakfasts were delicious and they even opened the breakfast a bit early for us on the last day so we could leave early for a flight.

As previous stays this hotel is great value for money comfortable and with excellent service.

We have stayed here several times before and the service is always good. English is spoken and nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

Due to Covid the bar area was not open properly nor was the Restaurant but that is down to the Covid bot the Hotel. We still got a couple of beers though!

Altenberg, definitely a place to relax and enjoy!

Our complete stay was fantastic!!! the hotel facilities were perfect, our room was huge, we even had views to wineyard! Free parking lot and an AMAZING breakfast!!! The owners were very welcoming, they helped us with a few things regarding our trip and stay. I'll definately come back to enjoy a very quite and beautiful town. Highly Recommended!!!!

Exceptional

Hosts are very welcoming. They prepared gluten free and dairy free items for us (and gave us a large variety of items not just one option!) they also prepared a breakfast to take away since we left early in the morning. Location is great for airport, just 20 mins away, close to baden baden and other nice attractions in the black forest. Housekeeping is very good... Rooms were spacious and very clean. Had good parking in front of hotel.

Not all bathrooms are modern, some need to be modernized although they are all very clean and everything works well.

6 uur was de uiterste inchecktijd. Wij waren iets later. Het hotel stuurde mailtjes via Booking maar tijdens het rijden kan ik die niet lezen. Een belletje is dan handiger.

Situation idéale à proximité de tout: Forêt noire, Europa Park, Baden Baden, Freiburg... Dans un magnifique petit village, au calme et en bordure des vignes. Parking avec une capacité plus que suffisante, possibilité de recharge véhicules électriques. Petit déjeuner complet, pain frais café à volonté.

Achtung!! Immer Bargeld dabei haben

Der Balkon

Nachdem ich meinen Monteuren vergessen hatte Bargeld dazulassen für das bezahlen beim auschecken wurde ich angerufen. Ich entschuldigte mich und sagte kein problem mein Mitarbeiter schickt mir das Foto von der Rechnung und ich überweise es sofort. Gemacht und getan nun war aber leider Samstag und dementsprechend die Buchung erst am Montag (bei der Bank angerufen um 14:10 wertstellung also bei ihm drauf!) Nichts desto trotz bekam ich bereits um 07:30 Uhr am Montag einen Anruf der örtlichen Polzei das ich ihn betrügen möchte! Ich war dort 2 Wochen Gast habe immer direkt bezahlt ohne weiteres. Selbst nachmittags als es schon gebucht war rief man bei meinem Auftraggeber an und beschwerte sich das ich Mietschulden hätte! Das unter aller würde und rechtliche Konsequenzen werden definitiv folgen!

Wir waren auf der Durchfahrt und fühlten uns für eine Nacht sehr gut aufgehoben.

Das Frühstück ist sehr gut. Die Bewirtung war ebenfalls sehr gut und freundlich. Die Lage ist etwas abseits, aber für Gäste die Ruhe suchen sehr geeignet. Ganz in der Nähe gibt es ein Lokal, in dem man gut speisen kann.

Wir wüssten nicht, worüber wir uns beklagen könnten. Es gibt Zimmer mit unterschiedlichen Preiskategorien. Der Gast entscheidet was er möchte.
