Great stay- Highly recommended

I truly loved the hospitality here — overall, it was a wonderful stay. Especially the two young boys in training, Nura and Ketut, who were so sweet and always did their very best to accommodate us with anything we needed. The massage was also excellent and absolutely worth the money — thank you to Budi for such a great experience. It was amazing how every time we needed something, the staff was there within two minutes. The breakfast was delicious, and the view… wow! Simply amazing!

The toilet smells strongly of fungus; that’s the only thing that needs improvement.

We enjoyed the à la carte breakfast. Always fresh fruit and vegetables, a lot of local and international varieties.

Beautiful Oasis in Ubud

Love the location, it is a bit our of hand but that makes it so special. You have a beautiful oasis in Ubud when you stay at Menzel. The Staff was super helpful and welcoming. Facilities where great, clean, absolutely recommend. The restaurant super flavourful, and great breakfast!

Best hotel in Ubud

I love everything from this hotel. But I most say that the personal is the best of all, they are all super lovely and make you feel like home. The rooms are amazing! The beds are the most confortable beds I have ever sleep in. Room with the pool and terrace are incredible because you can see the rice field while you taking a bath. They have all kind of details in the room: salt for your bath, vanity kits, everything. I will definitely go back to this hotel again. Also the massage/spa are so good and you have an area for training, do yoga or stretching. We took the BBQ dinner there and it was the best Bali BBQ we ate.

We loved everything. This is the best hotel that you can stay in Ubud.

Very good property for some quite time.

Very good for a quiet, stay away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. Very scenic property with good restaurant and a bar. There was an option to participate in a barbecue session with live music. Very hospitable, staff special mention for Vaayu, he welcomed us with warmth and all the necessary details needed for the stay.

Approach to the property is very narrow. Not too many options when you want to go out and eat within walking distance.

It does not look like the pictures!!!! - Rice fields look different not pretty - you have to book an expensive room, budget and deluxe are easier to the road, loud or in the building next door looks like motel - motel rooms you hear everything the neighbour does at night! - food portions tiny, I am a girl weigh 50 kg how is a big man supposed to be full after that kinda meal if I still feel hungry after one little slice of bread with a little avocado. - view out of deluxe room shown on picture

Absolutely amazing!

Our stay was simply perfect — I completely fell in love with this place and the wonderful staff. Everyone was so kind, attentive, and truly cared about every little detail. The whole environment is calm and peaceful, far from the noise and chaos, yet still close to the main road, where you can easily walk to nearby supermarkets and restaurants. The food was excellent — congratulations to the chef! Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The spa service was also amazing, very relaxing and professional. A special mention to Widi, our driver during the excursions — he was absolutely excellent, explaining everything clearly and always being so patient with us. In the restaurant, I remember some names like Ari, Komang, Suardika, and Dewa Ayu, but honestly, everyone — from the restaurant to reception, security, and housekeeping — was so professional, polite, and warm. We’ve stayed in more luxurious places, but nowhere have we felt as good and as welcomed as here. A big round of applause to the entire team — excellent job! 👏💚 We’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing!

The view from the dining room and the villa was unbelievable! The location is a little tricky to get to but it is well worth it! The restaurant was also fantastic

The only negative thing I may have is that the room had 2 king single beds pushed together to make a king size bed which is fine, however it was still made with king single sheets overlapping each other so if you are a couple that tends to sleep close to each other the sheets tend to split and then have no sheets left on in the night.

Mosquitos get into the room and thin sheets, limited food/drink options, pool area quite small with no place to really lay in sun, tricky spot to get to and a little far from the main restaurant streets.

The breakfast selection is good, however, they don’t have enough space to accommodate all guests, so people should wait while others finish their breakfast.

There are two completely different parts to this place. One is the “nice” area with stand-alone villas for big groups or families. The other is an absolutely disgusting, run-down student (??) guesthouse for smaller families. I made the mistake of not paying close attention to the reviews — I was fooled by the pictures and the high price (100 EUR per night), so I booked without hesitation. When we arrived, I was shocked. The room stank, was filthy, and looked like a cheap hostel. The staff were utterly useless — repeating “we can’t help” like robots, without the slightest effort to actually help. To make matters worse, it was pouring rain outside, so we couldn’t drag our child through rice fields to find another place. Yet they still refused to offer any solution. I insisted on seeing another room or villa, and the only “option” they came up with was one for 318 EUR per night — the price of our entire booking — and even that one was damp, smelled of mold, and only “redeemed” by a private pool. This place is a scam. The photos lie, the service is nonexistent, and the cheaper rooms are a disgrace. Avoid this dump at all costs.

The staff were exceptionally kind, friendly, and always willing to help. The atmosphere around the dining area and the pool was serene and inviting perfect for relaxing. While we didn’t personally enjoy most of the food due to the heavy use of coconut oil (which is common in Asian cuisine), we’re sure the dishes are of high quality for those accustomed to the local flavors. If you’re not used to these tastes, it might be a bit challenging at first, but the staff are very responsive and willing to accommodate your preferences if you let them know. Overall, it’s a charming hotel that blends beautifully with the Bali vibe, and we were quite satisfied with our stay.

The hotel differs somewhat from typical Western-standard resorts, so it’s best to adjust your expectations accordingly. One downside was the poor sound insulation in the rooms, which could be an issue for light sleepers. Additionally, the location is not within walking distance to the main center, which might be inconvenient for some. However, this can easily be solved by renting a motorbike directly from the hotel or using one of the popular ride-hailing apps.

Menzel Ubud your dreams come true !!

Our first resort we visit in Bali. Almost in centre from Ubud ,bud really so relaxed, totally no noise from traffic. The location was like you were in the mountains with the rice fields. The cabins were perfect, restaurant and swimming pool real good. The staff from Menzel Ubud is one of the best i ever had in al my vacations around the world. Sure we come back !!!!!

Relaxation with a side of bites. Worthwhile!

The staff was very attentive and friendly. The private plunge pool was a life saviour for the humidity. The spa facilities are really convenient and was nice. Tour driver was really nice and informative and definitely worth it.

Villa did let it a fair bit of mosquitoes despite us being vigilant to close doors promptly.

Ok but wouldn’t stay again.

Breakfast was ok. Tend to over fry in oil everything and the eggs never cooked properly. Wasps everywhere so was annoying after few days. Hotel stunning setting. Staff nice. 👍

Location is painful to get too. Taxi can take 30 mins to get into Ubud due to road the villa Menzel on. Massage was worst had in Bali.

Beautiful romantic getaway

This place is really beautiful overlooking the rice fields. It is so peaceful and smelt beautiful. The bed is really really comfortable. At night it was really peaceful The outlook from our bed was very romantic. My husband was able to bring me coffee in the mornings which I really enjoyed. It is very clean

It was much smaller than I was expecting. At night it was quite dark , so I couldn’t read my book. It was quite isolated so you needed a taxi to go to shops and restaurants. The onsite restaurant was pretty ordinary and overpriced

Perfect place to discover the beauty of Ubud, in its resort and surroundings

Beautiful location, ideal to be away from Ubud's hussle, yet close to the center. The complex puts in value Balinese architecture and traditions. A nice variety of day trip offers, activities and evening entertainment at the hotel! Highly recommended!

Pleasant but overlypriced

I loved having a private plunge pool which was very clean, although pretty small (just a plunge pool).The room was big, in lovely balinese style and the bathroom was also pleasant. However I have to say that the lighting was so dim I could barely see things. The staff was very nice and friendly. They did what they could to make my stay pleasant. The breakfast has many options, it is not buffet style, you order from a menu... so that was a plus!

The resort is rather small.... in the pictures on booking.com it looks huge - and that was disappointing: a resort is supposed to have gardens and gazebos and places where you can sit, relax and enjoy the views, tables and benches. There are NO seats around except for the chairs found at the bar/restaurant. The resort advertises restaurant area and bar area... but in fact it is always the same place. Apart from that, the spa was a nuisance because any service (massage etc) needed to be booked one day in advance, which meant that in one week I never got to use the spa because when I tried to book, it was too late, as they want one day in advance; I was hard to anticipate where I would be on the following day and most importantly, it is hard to plan when I want a massage, one day in advance!
