Cosy and convenient!

Had a really homey feel. Cosy cottage type vibe but modern and spacious. ALL the amenities including extra little touches like cotton pads in the bathroom and muffins in the kitchen. Local Information was great, location was perfect plus bonus of shop and takeawayon doorstep. The two secure entrances and designated parking space were very handy. Although we didn't use it the shared garden space including toy shed is great for kids. Friendly responsive hosts. Fabulous stay!

Unfortunately the WiFi was good enough for phone use but struggled to stream a film on the tv, also wifi patchy upstairs but there is 4g. Unfortunately a fuse tripped during our stay however hosts were quick to respond and Andy who's only next door was quick on the scene and very friendly.

A great place ran by great people

The house is very well laid out for everyone, the quality of furnishings and fittings is excellent and nothing is too much trouble Alan and Carla really do make sure you have the best time and it is evident that they care about your stay It’s the little things like the muffins left out for us in a beautiful glass domed dish the information folder which pretty much fills in all the gaps It really is a great place to stay and we can’t recommend it highly enough

Fantastic hideaway - grateful for the hospitality

Love a good backwater. Close enough but also far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Great little cottage, neat and tidy.

Only 4 place dining even though the property sleeps more, and block out blinds would be really helpful. Gas oven wasn’t great so we only used it once. Suggestion also to write an info page about the bins and how they work - what goes where etc.

The CoalHouse is a lovely, homely well equipped accommodation. Kitchen very well equipped and made our family stay easy. Lounge and bedrooms clean, comfortable and all of good size. Good outside space if weather is sunny and dry. The host was really helpful and communication before and during our stay was really good.

The house is even more beautiful than it looks on the pictures. Everything is clean, nicely thought through and the hosts are available for any help if needed.

Very good

Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Close to shop, pub and chinese. Lovely garden. Alan the owner lives next door so was at hand for any issues. He was even kind enough to take us into Dunfermline and gave some history along the way .

The electricity kept tripping but obviously that was out of anyone's control but Alan was there immediately to deal with the situation and even changed the fridge to rectify the problem.

Comfortable and peaceful house

The house was so beautiful, spacious and very relaxing. The rooms were very comfortable. Our son loved playing in the garden. Edinburgh is a 45-,min drive, which was very convenient. We will recommend this place to anyone planning a trip to Edinburgh.

Absolutely fabulous accommodation, well equipped for families and lovely little touches which make a whole lot of difference.

The location was a little further than we'd expected from Edinburgh Centre, but it wasn't a major problem as we just drove to a tram stop just on the outside of Edinburgh.

House booked for the 4 of us as attending the Superbike races at Knockhill (4 Miles away). Was a great choice, we had plenty of space & all the facilities we needed for our stay. Able to make Breakfasts & Packed lunches for ourselves, short taxi ride into Dunfermline on 2 evenings to eat out. On the Sunday evening we got in takeaway and stayed in the house watching TV. Communication with Carla was great.

Nothing that was really within the hosts control. Only 1 pub in the village, doesn't do food, but friendly enough when we went in. The local convenience store was shut for a refit so we had to use nearby superstore (within 1.5 Miles) but this was no problem for us.

Superb

The Coal House is just lovely. It looks from outside like a tiny little cottage, but inside it becomes a tardis, with more room than expected. Everything is clean and beautifully decorated. The bedrooms are generous and so very comfortable, bright and airy. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything that is needed, we have never seen this in a self catering property before. The Chinese across the road is also worth a visit, best Chicken chow mein we have ever had. Great friendly staff too. When we arrived the lights wouldn't work. One phone call to Alan who was next door, and he had sorted things within the hour. Great house, and great support, would definitely recommend.

I would only suggest if space could be made to fit a second toilet. The house sleeps 6 and with only one bathroom, there was quite a few queues to use the loo........
