Hout bay discovery !

Everything was great overall, mattress is ok contrary to what many comments say. It’s a soft mattress but it’s normal for a memory foam. Water pressure is good in the shower, good equipment.

Only thing we didn’t like is the very small amount of shower gel in the bathroom, it needed a top up honestly. Nothing important though

Nicole is a charming, eccentric host, who tries to make you welcome, but doesn't quite make it.

The actual accommodation was clean and comfortable. Access both by the path way into the apartment, and moving in the place was made difficult by an uneven, insecure rough pathway (photo available), and a high step into and out of the kitchen area. The advertised facilities mentioned a pool, which there is indeed. But, in a PRIVATE AREA, regularly policed by beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback hounds, into which we area we were never invited (and made no special request to swim). I suggest that handicapped would-be guests be warned of these hazards before booking.

A welcome cozy refuge during a windy storm. We loved the stay and everything was perfect. Would recommend Villa Barry.

It has the most cozy comfortable bed ever! Everything was clean and neat and just perfect. The host was accommodating and friendly.

Disappointed

The location was ok.

Host was aggressive & condescending when we invited family member inside to wait when he picked us up. Threatened us with the POLICE. Shower was covered in mould. 3 guard dogs barking at our windows. Private garden was a sand pit. Furnishings were grubby and old. Sheets and towels were Gray and old, were white a long time ago. Not a good experience.

Nicole was very nice she allowed me late check out at a cost ZAR300. Till 2pm but I had asked to check out at 12.00 noon, made me feel free and ownership of my place

We liked our stay at the garden studio. It had everything we needed, it was clean and comfortable. Communication with and instructions from Nicole were easy.

Not all windows have blinds so it gets light quite early and like earlier comments mention, the mattress is quite soft.

All in all we enjoyed the stay

I enjoyed the simplicity of the place - no bells and whistles but it had everything one would need to stay for a few days.

Would've liked to have someone come to greet us on arrival as we felt we were intruding in someone's home. Also, the TV needs to be a little higher - when lying in bed we couldn't really watch

Perfect place to relax

It exceeded my expectations, nice clean and stunning decor

The street parking as next to a township, shower pressure low. How the cleaning fee just came off, Booking.com gave me a rate, confirmed an amount then next thing the amount came off with R300 extra, felt blindsided but guess that issue is with the booking.com system

La struttura di per sé è carina e vicina alle principali attrazioni. Sicurezza H24. Abbiamo soggiornato un mese. I difetti della casa li puoi vedere nelle recensioni precedenti, sono rimasti tali in quanto l'host non sembra essere interessata a sistemarli (materasso scomodo, a causa di una non adeguata struttura sottostante, passaggio per arrivare alla casa dissestato e storto, metodo di recupero delle chiavi difficoltoso se non riesci ad abbassarti, divani macchiati, pulizie superficiali). Aggiungo che sarebbe da scrivere che vi sono tre grossi cani, che prima di conoscerti ti abbaieranno contro e un gatto. In caso foste allergici o aveste paura non consiglio di alloggiare qui. Essendo animali sentirete l'odore dei loro bisogni al mattino perché il vostro giardino confina con il suo. Non ci siamo trovati per nulla bene con l'host. Ti tratterà come se fosse casa sua, quindi entrando nel tuo spazio di giardino (lei e anche il suo gentilissimo giardiniere che non ha colpe), ma senza chiederti il permesso o giustificare l'ingresso. Abbiamo segnalato dei problemi: wifi funzionante in una sola area della casa, materasso scomodo perché sfondato in mezzo, asciugamani sporchi e l'host ha provveduto a sistemare la situazione, ma con molta agitazione. Ha aggiunto un extender per il wifi e inizialmente non funzionava molto bene, quindi abbiamo dovuto metterci in contatto più volte per sistemarlo. L'host si è dimostrata, ansiosa, infastidita dalle richieste, sempre pronta a farti l'elenco delle cose che avevamo chiesto e sistemato. Mia zia ha per sbaglio rotto una lampada e l'host ne ha comprata un'altra sempre sottolineando l'errore di mia zia. Sostanzialmente è pronta a farti farti sentire in colpa perché in quanto ospite stai chiedendo, ma ehi il compito di chi affitta è anche provvedere a sistemare cosa non va. Le pulizie costano 400rand (prezzo che a parere di mia sorella che vive da anni a d Hout bay è davvero esagerato).
