Fantastic stay!

Kim and her team were absolutely fantastic. Everything was spotlessly clean, well organized, and the location is perfect. I originally came just for a weekend, but I loved it so much that I ended up staying an extra week. I felt very comfortable and well taken care of the entire time. Highly recommended, I would definitely stay here again!

Just that the Bath tap wasn’t fixed and no plug for the Bath so it was a facility I looked forward to but wasn’t able to use. Especially as I was only there one night only.

My stay was good and the lady at the reception was professional, friendly and helpful.

No breakfast, location is good,secured and safe.

The entry point was accessible but the exit point was a hustle and very frustrating and annoying ,one has to go all the way around to access the exit gate,in this case it was raining and windy.

Clean, the location is great and everything works, Wi-Fi was great and shower water was hot and it’s safe.

The late check in fines (I wasn’t charged but was told I would be if I arrive late) and constant calls and check in ( with texts and calls) .

Enjoyed my weekend off

Fantastic staff with a great attitude. Was super impressed with the laundry service handed my dirty clothes at 1pm mentioned I'd be checking out 8am next day, clothes returned folded and dry by 7pm at a reasonable price

Shower leaks just needs the silicone redone but water was lovely and hot

Nice stay in Hout Bay

Staff is friendly, everything was clean and well equipped. There’s a very nice view over the bay and a nice covered terrace. The parking was secure. The dormitory was well organised, with a small but good bathroom (the shower was perfect, with hot water) It’s a very quiet place and that’s nice, host and guests were very polite and respectful And the hostel is very close to the beach and the harbour

A stop on the journey to find myelf

So on my last two nights there, a leak sprung from the ceiling. Low and behold, the moved me to one of the best rooms in the lodge. The view over the harbour and the mountains were just fantastic. Otherwise, better than most in Cape Town.

Beachfront Breakaway

Unless it was built on the dunes, closer to the beach you can't get - and the view from the balconies is unparalleled. It is clean, neat with all the basics, and a bit more. Everything is within walking distance. If you need to get away from it all and have space and time to yourself, this is a good place to be - unless you have an over-involved dorm-mate... bonus: en-suite bathrooms in the 4-bed room I occupied.

A destinguishing hallmark of such establishments are individual lighting and power outlets at every bed - Hout Bay Backpackers would elevate themselves with such additions.

Unfortunate room share

Setup was good, and awesome location. Tristan was friendly and helpful

Unfortunately I had to share a room with a mother and son, who has been staying there for 2 years, so it didn't feel like a dorm/hostel room, but rather that I was invading their space, and they weren't very accommodating, woke up at 2am every morning, and not considered to others at all. Internet and wifi was also not available in my room.

Chilled out, hot with nice southern breeze

Self catering opposite the beach, very very quiet at night, and breath taking views in every direction, The rooms are cleaned every day. The manager was very welcoming and very professional. The house keeper called a peewee is a Diamond and such a hard worker and very funny when the wild life gets in. LoL!!!

Sand blows up the beach and in to the hostel when it's windy? APeewee sweeps it all up in the morning but it's a never ending battle!!

They moved me from one room to another without even telling me. The backpackers is mostly filled with young tourists that are there for volunteer work so expect your food and shampoo to be consumed without your consent.

The room was comfortable

The kitchen was filty and unhygienic. Contaminated food was left out for days on surfaces. I had to explain to others the dangers of this and the response was nonchalant and evasive. I picked up a tummy bug. The manageress was extremely rude to me on my arrival.Furthermore the check out facilities were non existent. No staff were there when I went to check out. This is illegal This left me quite vulnerable as a single female solo traveller. I am extremely disappointed with the service provided. I will be seeking a refund from my credit card company.
