Guest house - Maison d'hôtes "Relais des Saars"

Excellent location. Clean, comfortable and the owner was friendly and helpful. I was happy to stay there. Also the proximity to the lac was wonderful

The only issue for me was there was no kitchenette. As in no sink. Having said that the owner came each day and washed the plates etc.

A wonderful experience in the basement apartment to a family home. Daniela was welcoming and provided many touches such as fruit, jam and coffee for our arrival. She even serviced the apartment and offered to do the washing up every day (though I felt a bit guilty about that), making it more like a hotel than an apartment. The shower was great! The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave and coffee machine, so we could prepare simple meals. The Coop in Switzerland was great for food shopping. Neuchatel is a beautiful town and a regular bus to the town centre ran from almost directly outside. We took full advantage of the tourist card and went to multiple museums (especially Latenium) and trips on a boat and funicular. We even had a view of snow on the Alps from the apartment on our last day.

One needs two apps to operate the tourist card. The Neuchatel Card app is straightforward. A QR code gives you access to the museums etc and can be printed off. Then you have to download and set up 'FAIRTIQ' to be able to use the buses etc. You have to get a code from the Neuchatel App and then enter that as a 'Promotion Code' into Fairtiq. What they don't tell you however, is that you can only get the code once your Neuchatel Card is live. Trying to be organised and have everything set up for our arrival, I kept failing, until eventually I got a message. Then your phone has to be connected when you use public transport. You have an ON-OFF slider to indicate when you are travelling. It worked most of the time, but was stressful when my phone refused to behave and I could not have shown a generated ticket had an inspector got on.

The owner is very friendly and helpful. the little refrigerator holds enough for a good breakfast and the coffee is nice and easy. short walk to the town or lake also.

The location was near la Latenium, which was excellent. Our hostess was friendly, and directed us towards that. She provided us with a travel pass which was fantastic: we were able to use the trolleybus into Neuchatel, and to use it on the train throughout the canton. There were fantastic views of the Bernese Alps in the distance across the lake.

I thought I had booked a hotel, but it was a guest room: that is probably my fault. It was some distance from the main town, and there was a major road between it and the lake. Breakfast was provided only on the first day.

We had a great stay, the guest house is absolutely perfect, the room was very cozy, warm, spacious and super clean, the bathroom was also quite spacious and sparkling clean, you have everythig you need, wifi that works thag very well, a very comfortable bed, coffee machine and television. The location is also perfect, the house has perfect view over of the lake and it takes 10-15 minutes by bus to get to the center and the bus stop is literally a few step away from to house. And ofcourse Daniela is the best host! Shen is super nice, very friendly and very helpful! I definetly recommende the guesthous, it is the perfcet stay in Neuchâtel!

Inklusive Frühstück für den ersten Tag. Das Bad war jeden Tag geputzt. Eingang und Terrasse günstig gelegen und super schön. Insgesamt ein toller Aufenthalt und absolut empfehlenswert. Danke.

Petite terrasse face au lac. Equipement très fonctionnel et complet. Gentillesse et chaleur de l'accueil. Possibilité de se rendre à pied au centre commercial et sportif de la Maladière et dans le vieux centre-ville. Arrêt de bus quasiment devant la chambre d'hôte et carte gratuite pour transports en commun.
