Casa Almis, Grindelwald

Beautifully central eith a great deck, bedroom and bathroom.

It felt like two different units, one side so modern the other stuck in the past.

Die Kurtaxe von Grindelwald ist mit Fr. 5.20 viel zu teuer!

We LOVED Grindelwald — it was the highlight of our honeymoon. The views are certainly worth dragging luggage up and down hills at altitude. The apartment is lovely and comfortable, with a very well-equipped kitchen, including spices, oil, tea and coffee (grab milk from Coop on your way in, if needed). We highly recommend Basecamp, Barry’s (for fondue), Golden India and the Grindelwald Bakery. We visited Grindelwald First and also enjoyed the self-service restaurant terrace for lunch with a view and a half. As far as First activities, skip the line for the cliff walk (the views are EVERYWHERE). The mountain cart ride was much shorter than expected after a long wait and skippable IMO, but DO NOT skip the Trotti bike ride back down to Grindelwald — it was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and more worth the ticket fee as the ride is much longer than the karts (and no wait in our experience). If you go this route, you do not need a round trip cable car ticket (we made this mistake 💸). Also recommend visiting Lauterbrunnen, a gorgeous valley with 72 waterfalls. It was difficult to leave Grindelwald and we hope to come back. Would stay at Casa Almis again!

We couldn’t find the welcome booklet with the guest pass, but this wasn’t a big deal. The shower has heavenly water pressure, but will overflow if you stay in too long.
