B&B was fine, but would not stay here again for the entire 5 nights

Beautiful building and area. Several very fine pubs nearby.

No where to safely walk. No amenities nearby. Taxi rides or rental car required

Nice, but not amazing B & B

The room had windows in two directions which was nice. The breakfast was excellent, we could have anything from a full English breakfast to something lighter and our landlady really tried to cater to our needs. One day we even got home made marmalade. On our last day we didn't have time to eat but she was very kind and provided us with an egg and bacon sandwich we could eat on the train. It was easy walking distance to St Fagans National History Museum which was very interesting and free entry. There was also a pub nearby which was nice and had decent food.

As with many small places they tend to get better notes than they deserve. People forget it's a business transaction and don't want to hurt the owner. When we looked at other reviews this place was highly praised and the reality didn't really match this. It wasn't bad but the bed was not comfortable, even after we received more pillows, the cleaning could have been better (we found quite many black hairs which didn't come from us) and we could hear noises from other rooms including the landlady's television. The parking was also very tight, especially when you drive an unknown rental car. Except for the pub there were no other eating options nearby.

Spacious, clean and tidy room, but prepare need to leave during day time

Spacious, very clean and tidy room and bathroom. The hot bath in the bath tub was a bonus especially after a few hours' trail walk. Daily clean up made our stay more comfortable. The host, Julie is pleasant and nice.

Have to leave the house from 10 am to 5pm is very inconvenient for customers, especially during bad weather or illness. Breakfast is ok, but not superb. Additional food can be offered for the English breakfast, such as mushrooms, one more piece of egg.

I chose this guesthouse as it was just 5 minutes away from family. I'm so glad I did! Julie (and Boris, an adorably friendly dog!) met us at the door, to show us to our room. The room was clean with kettle, tea and coffee. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was excellent! The area is exceptionally quiet, so no problem sleeping. I don't normally eat breakfast, but I did have scrambled eggs and toast, and my husband had a full English, both of which were very good. Julie was an lovely host, with lots of knowledge regarding the area - as we were visiting family we only went to the St Fagans national museum of history but it was very interesting, and we will be back to view it again. This will definitely be my go to Guesthouse when visiting family.

The owner was friendly, the breakfast experience was underwhelming.

Bed was very comfortable, and the heating was warm. The welcome was also very warm.

The TV was tiny. The breakfast was definitely the worse point. The vegetarian breakfast was small, lacking imagination and underwhelming. The main traditional breakfast was lacking beans, mushrooms etc. For a small amount of effort, the overall breakfast experience would have been greatly enhanced.

Steps away from the beautiful gardens of the castle and open air museum of St Fagans

Being footsteps away from the free outdoor museum and beautiful gardens of St Fagans Castle was the reason for booking here initially. We were able to pop into Cardiff city centre for an evening meal as well as a sunset in Barry Island. There are also two neolithic sites a few miles away. Julie at The Laurels was very welcoming and looked after us with a lovely breakfast.

The Laurels is situated in St Fagans which is on the outskirts of Cardiff. It was very easy to get a taxi into the centre, and cheaper and nicer than staying there. There is a pub around the corner which serves good basic pub food. We went to Cardiff to watch the rugby and The Laurels was a great base. The museum next door is very well worth a visit as well. We needed to spend longer there, so are intending to return at some point. Julie, who runs The Laurels was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were well furnished and the breakfasts were very good.

It would have been nice to have some fresh fruit at breakfast, but it may have been available - we didnt ask.
