Small but cosy room on the top floor in a historical building of the citta alta

Small, but cosy room at the third floor (room Zia, economy room), with comfortable double bed and excellent bath room. Steep staircase to reach the room on the top floor, but no problem for us. The only thing we missed was a small reading lamp near the top of the bed. Location perfect in the middle of the citta alta and close to the funiculare, many restaurants and shops nearby. We would not hesitate to book it again. Excellent communication with Alessia on behalf of the owners.

Nice & cozy

A very lovely room in a historic building right in the heart of the Old Town. The bedroom is small but cozy, with a very comfortable bed. Everything is clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom is spacious. It’s important to mention that you need to climb narrow, steep stairs to reach the room. There is no kitchenette in the room itself, but on the ground floor there is a very spacious common area with free coffee/tea and a shared fridge. There is also a balcony with a wonderful view of the Old Town street. A truly great apartment – the best place I’ve stayed in Bergamo!

So bad I did not stay.

The location. That's about it. In the end I decided not to stay, for the reasons in the next section. The bathroom looked OK, although did not use it.

The room I had booked in this place was misrepresented by the host, in my opinion. It was only the day before I was due to arrive that I discovered that it was up three flights if increasingly narrow and steep stairs. I am over 70 and in good shape, but I struggled. The room itself (Camera Zia) is tiny. There is no bedside table or even a ledge, and no bedside light. There was no glass for drinking water in the room. The wifi (the place advertises free wifi) did not work in the room. I thought the place was so bad that I went to another B&B in Bergamo. I had to pay again, but it was worth it. Be warned - check if you are being offered Camera Zia. I would not recommend it. The other rooms in the property may be fine, but I do not have first hand information on this.

Loved our cosy weekend break. We would book again.

What really set La Torre Bergamo House out was the prime location. Located practically on the main street of the old town and only a couple minutes walk from the Piazza, it made visiting all the main attractions super easy. Rooms, although small, were cost and maintained well whilst keeping the rustic feel about them. We used ours as a base camp for having a quick shower, dropping off a few souvenirs to lighten our bags and to sleep. Bathroom was done nicely. Views out of the window look down the old cobbled streets and at Torre del Gombito. Check in was a breeze. Two nights was just right for us.

One night was quite stuffy, we both woke up and had to open the window, only to close it again because the sound is amplified in the small streets (can't blame the hotel). There was a tower fan which helped a little. WiFi signal in the top room was very weak, it kept dropping out. The hot water in the shower could have lasted a bit longer with two people, but it was still enough to get clean.

Feel the old town!

Great host! Apartment is in perfect location in the middle of the old town, close to all must see places. You can feel the atmosphere of Citta Alta! However, sometimes it may also be a minus, as you can hear the people outside until late night hours.

Air condition would be a great addition, as it is quite hot in the room and provided fan is very loud, so it is hard to sleep when turned on.

La torre bergamo house is a really good place to stay in. Allesia, house holder, was very nice and helpful. Whenever I needed some informations or help, she was always there. Also contact through what's app was really helpful. The room was nice and clean, breakfast in price, every day the same but we didn't mind. Was tasty anyways. The apartment is in the center of old town, around so many pubs and restaurants and so much for sightseeing. Definitely the place to visit again! 🙂

The room is on the pretty loud street, motorbikes were waking me up a few times during the night. Also people are loud and bells in the churches start to ring very early in the morning. If you don't mind those things, I think this place and apartment is really worth to stay

Accesible, cozy, clean with top location

The location is in the center and very happening place. All restaurants, pubs, ice cream, pizza etc Pharmacies shopping is just meters away. Also its walking distance to all main sites, bus stops and funicular. You can take a taxi from the train station and it can leave you right outside the door of B&B (which is helpful qs its in the old city qnd theres limited entry by cars). I visited with my seven yr old and it was convenient. Rooms are nice and warm, cosy clean and hot water running at all times. The shared kitchen always had coffee available and breakfast was simple but quality. Special thanks to Alessia that was so helpful. We hope to come back and will definateley stay with you!

The location is excellent, and the host very friendly.

-It was cold at night, heating centralized but stopped early, around 21.00, we took out the blanket and still felt cold -no slippers for the cold floor, after especially the shower -the shower interior had mold on wall

Great, central, charismatic location Amazing medieval walled city Lovely walks around Citta Alta (Upper City) walls in the cool of the morning, with stunning views of villas, gardens, vineyards & countryside. Everything was perfect! Alessia was a warm, kind & welcoming owner. Loved her family home & its history. Felt honoured that she shared her home & its stories with us! Spacious bedroom & bathroom in a style sympathetic to the building. Loved views from our private balconies on to cobbled streets. Perfect for a prosecco (or two!) Observing the locals & passersby.
