Calypso

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were supposed to have hiked here from the Samaria Gorge, but the gorge was closed due to flooding, so we ended up having to take a boat after hiking the Lisos Gorge in Sougia. We were glad the hotel was so close to the water with all of our luggage to haul from the harbor. The proprietor there was so welcoming when we arrived, and the rooms were modern and clean. We were able to enjoy the beach, renting chairs and umbrella, which included 2 drinks from a nearby beachfront tavern. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the live entertainment at the end of the meal, with the proprietor playing his Cretan lyre.

Friendly family owner/staff. Great location, clean room with sea view, great value, great food

Could be nice to have a kettle for tea/coffee in the room

I can’t say enough positive things about our stay at Calypso. This was our second stay here and we will definitely be back. Our accommodations, the food, the staff - all excellent.

No complaints whatsoever.

Basic clean rooms (this is a good place to stay after hiking the Samaria Gorge), and friendly staff. Has a nice restaurant but no access (or facilities) to the beach. Another hotel offered chairs and umbrellas at the beach if you ate at their restaurant or stayed at the hotel.

No available blankets and got very chilly at night
