Disappointing

Hotel itself was very nice. Restaurant was busy and food was fine, fairly standard. Breakfast was also nice, as I would expect for the amount paid. The location was good for us.

At the time of the booking we were not notified that there would be a lot of noise from a party/nightclub event in the hotel. The sound was very loud and made sleep impossible until it ended. A fire alarm also went off during this time for about 20 seconds. As we had an important event the next day we had hoped for a good night's sleep but this was made very difficult. There was a note in our room to notify us that certain events may mean some noise, however this note was far too late as we would already have checked in and paid. We paid quite a lot for this room so it was very disappointing. I didn't think it was fair to pay that amount for a disrupted night's sleep and belated apology. Presumably the hotel would have known that the planned event would result in a lot of noise for guests.

Derry Halloween break

Lovely big room with a big shower room. There was a small fridge with complimentary water. Also an iron plus ironing board. Reception staff very friendly. I enjoyed the city itself and people were friendly.

The hotel is off a busy roundabout and a bit further away from the city than I would like.

Superb place to stay.

Location was great, right off the main road. Restaurant and Bar were great, welcoming and great quality. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout.

Double bed was rather small, made the nights sleep a little disruptive.

Lovely hotel, would definitely staff again

Quick check in and all information given re breakfast etc. Upon entering the bedroom, you could immediately smell the cleanliness of the room, it was spotless. Breakfast had a great selection and staff were very attentive to requests.

The bathroom lock was broken and my child got distressed when it kept turning but kept locked. At 12am I had to open from outside. Fridge in room was making a lot of noise during the night. Also the only table with mirror area to sit and do your hair and make up had the fridge on it. The pre made tea was very strong at breakfast time. But staff kindly got a tea pot of fresh tea for me.

Part two of our visit to Derry

Our first stay the week before was really good Especially the snug bar

Our second visit a week later was awful. As returning visitors we were giving an upgrade by the lovely guy on reception. When we got into the room, it looked like the bed had been slept in and not changed, We went and asked in reception and he said he was told that the room was definitely ready, We also mentioned that there was no toilet roll and the bins hadn't been emptied. He said he would deal with it. We said we would go and eat in the restaurant and give them a chance to do this , When we got back to the room, the bed had been made,but the sheets had just been thrown on the chair. Also the bin hadn't been emptied and still no toilet roll so my wife had to go and use the toilet in the bar. When we went back the third time,there was toilet rolls but the bins still hadn't been emptied and the sheets were still on the chair. This was 90 mins after we had been allocated the room. Quite unacceptable for such a class hotel. If these are the things that were very visible to us, It makes us worried about the things that we couldn't see in the room etc. I have complained to the hotel about this but they have failed to reply

It's fine but kinda far from the city center

The room was big and very clean. The bed was very comfortable..the bathroom had everything you needed.

The hotel It's actually not as close to the city of Derry as they say. It takes about 13-15 minutes drive depending on the traffic to get in the city center. Reception stuff okay but could be friendlier and nicer. The lights in the room...just ambient lights . We had people with kids next to us... plenty of kids..in more than 1 room...there was a lot of noise.. just like having a room in the middle of a nursery... terrible.. because we actually want it to rest after a long car journey..

Not good!

The location wasn’t great as it is in the university. We were given a room that had wet carpet and furniture in the bathroom. It smelled mildewed. Then we were given the only other room which was a mobility room with an open bathroom and cords for the lights etc hanging over the bed. The carpet was awful and the room wasn’t great at all.

I won't be going back!

The first ground-floor room that I was allocated was quite dark and faced the road. It wasn't welcoming or worth the money. I asked for a different room but that seemed to be a big issue due to guest capacity. The manager tried but it could have been handled a lot better. I really wanted to leave tbh.

No gym, dated, twin beds, pillows uncomfortable, hot, no lotion, all extremely basic.

Nice comfortable hotel, a little outside the city, with some public transport available. Quirky design - not the usual square blocks.

More difficult than it needed to be.

It was an average hotel space. Facilities were good. Room was clean.

Staff weren’t the most helpful; we were there for business (providing the live show for mamma mia night). We had 3 flight cases of costumes as well as other equipment. I had asked if we could put these in a room close to the function room. I was told a flat no and that we would have change in the room we had booked to sleep in. This was super inconvenient as we then had to lift the heavy luggage up the flight of stairs to reception and then down a set of stairs to our room. I had asked if there was a more direct way and was told no. We had to bring our costume changes to the back of the stage; the way the room layout was set for the function, this made our changing area beside one of the 2 exits for the room and we had members of the public walking in and out when we were in stages of undress. This is not really acceptable. We are here to work and we are just asking for a secure place to get ready for the performance. Our costumes are expensive and to have members of the public able to access our things during the show is very risky. To have this basic ask denied when there are empty side rooms is very poor service; other venues have had no problem accommodating this ask; we have also been to the Waterfoot before with other shows and they have given us spaces to get ready and unready. After the show we walked around the building and discovered there was an extremely convenient direct path from our room to the function room as well as to the car park that involved no stairs. I don’t know why the reception staff member (male) didn’t let us take this easier route and made our job more challenging than it needed to be.

A pleasure to spend the weekend in this hotel.

A very welcoming environment and helpful staff who made sure that all expectations were met. The food was top class and service was efficient. The room was spotless and of good size.

Breakfast lack of welcome, explanation and service of tea/coffee. Would have liked a choice of eggs i.e fried etc. Snug Bar drinking place for locals, rather than residants, lacked atmosphere, barman very good. Bathroom no shelves for storage and not hooks to hang anything. No toilet brush.

Room was good.

Breakfast was at the cheaper end in terms of quality. Overcooked bacon was a highlight. Weirdly had black pudding and scrambled eggs sharing the same containers. Staff were very helpful and attentive.

Disappointed and would not recommend based on this trip.

It has been a good number of years since we stayed here and we' were looking forward to it but the place has declined since then. Furniture in the rooms damaged and tired. The worst thing was the bed. Very uncomfortable and we have left more tired than we went. Evening meal was ok at the time but I did feel quite unwell afterwards. Reasonably priced but took over an hour and a half for two courses and we weren't really full. Didn't go back second night. Breakfast was good but strangely no fried eggs, otherwise no complaint about breakfast. Steps to main door were not that clean and with the rain it was worse. A big problem was the number of people smoking at the door and having to navigate through every time in and out. As two asthmatics this was far from ideal. Worse when they just left the cigarette butts lying. Mostly likely wouldn't be in a hurry to return here which is sad after a few good stays previously.

Very uncomfortable bed. Long wait for food which was nothing special. People smoking blocking door every single time we went in and out and that was numerous times over the stay of two nights.
