Pleasant and helpful staff, including manager Mia who helped resolve a problem with my room. Generous Scottish breakfast with hot food, toast & jam, ham & cheese, fruit, yogurt. Live music one night in the bar with a happy crowd. Servers and bartenders were very nice; housekeepers also pleasant. Some rooms were very nice. (The trick is to get one of the good rooms. I looked at several: 2, 3, 8, 14, 15 looked good to me. Avoid 7 and 17.) Location in center of main street, easy to walk anywhere.

Smell of mold was present in lobby and hallway of the building where half the rooms are, and in some of the rooms, so if you are sensitive, be aware. It rains a lot, and some of the rooms have windows that open overhead; ask for one that does not. I was first assigned room # 17 which is awful--tiny, no windows, no table or stand to put luggage and cosmetics on, no ventilation except a portable fan, bathroom one flight down. Extreme amount of noise from the ceiling of 7; the room is under a staircase that creaks badly, and people stomp up and down. I was fortunately able to move up to a better room (higher cost which was well worth it). However this room # 14 had a strong mold smell. Windows open overhead. Otherwise the room was spacious, nice sized closet, very clean en suite bathroom. Stairs only, no elevator and no one to help with luggage.

After my room flooded I was given an upgraded room as compensation.

No one woke us up over night to check how badly our room had flooded. Rain water got into the ground floor and two other rooms were given safe and dry rooms as soon as the flooding was noticed.
