incredible stay -- palace is so big you can get lost easily. beautiful architecture and interior. bonus points for the pool. well maintained and the pool guy went out of his way to make us comfortable, literally running to get us towels as a neck pillow (we obviously didnt ask for this) but such a sweetie, made us feel so special. For birding fans: the pool is an incredible place where you can spot cool birds like hornbills from the comfort of the poolside patio. Also, we had incredible food at imperial lancers.

Great pool and gardens, which were well maintained.
Nice room with plenty of space and storage.
Friendly staff.
Easy to get to by taxi - About 15 mins from airport. About 10 mins into the centre of the old town.
Beautiful heritage hotel.
Service around the pool was very slow. Almost impossible to order drinks and difficult to find staff.
The little cafe (which was beautiful) also suffered from slow service at times.
Food and drinks were a bit expensive. Certainly more like European prices.

I have always wanted to stay here, but it is definitely not as good as it looks in the photos. The frescoes in the restaurant and reception area are very pretty. the staff are very charming, especially those that Reception. The restaurant Staff must’ve been with a hotel for many years and we’re very kind but they were not very hot on the Service.
The rooms are old and need to be updated with faded photographs on the wall and old furniture, bathrooms need a good scrub.
