Loved waterfront access

Loved the location the accommodation was comfortable bed and sofa , loved the access to water front and was lovely to meet owners who were friendly

It could have been cleaner - noticed reviews from a month ago things still not changed like broken kitchen plastic washing bowel with sharp edges , kitchen sink full of dirt needed to clean before I could and use , cutterly drawer dirty with food remains so vary of using utensils before washing before use. The furniture was clean and well presented but kitchen floor needed cleaning on entry . Just needs complete deep clean .

Disappointing, not worth the money.

Despite the road noise, this could be a nice place to stay. The loaction is excellent. However, it is let down by the cleanliness and needs some tlc.

Cleanliness. The waste bin stank and had rotting matter under the bin liner. I had to disinfect it. The oven was dirty, with a used oven tray left in it. The cooker hood was dire. Glasses and knives had to be washed before we could use them. Some work is needed to sort the grey mould in the bathroom. The wasking up bowl is broken with sharp edges. The bathroom door hinges are loose. The 09:00 checkout time is too early and the booking process was fraught with many unnecessary emails.

Lakeside tranquility at its very best

Location was brilliant, providing good access to many of the popular Lake District areas. Well equipped & the hosts / owners were on site and very helpful and welcoming. The private patio area was a great outdoor space, but the real bonus was the access to the owners private lakeside area where you can relax and watch the world go by on the lake.

There were a couple of areas that may have been missed in the departure clean from the previous rental.

Better than home-from-home

We absolutely oved everything about this property. The location was excellent for walking, trekking, and touring the many lakes nearby. The property owners thought of everything. It was home-from-home. All facilities for cooking were provided both inside and outside. The private access to Lake Windemere was excellent. The grounds of the property are spectacular. The owners are really hospitable and the cleanliness of the property was super. We were reluctant to leave but hope to return. Thanks so much Nicole and John for all the great chats and the lovely bottle of wine on arrival.

Delightful cottage in the woods

The cottage is in a beautiful setting and fairly quiet, despite backing a busy road. It is really nicely furnished and very comfortable. Had the weather permitted it would have been lovely to sit outside for a BBQ. We enjoyed looking on to the beautiful gardens.

I would like to have known that there was a dryer available for guests on my first day rather than my last, after drying everything on a tiny clothes horse. Also, some more attention could be given to cleaning as some plates and cutlery had food bits stuck to them. Having said that, we would still choose to stay here again as it is a very well equipped and comfortable.

A lovely country cottage with great views of the lake.

Waterhead Cottage was the highlight of our trip toEurope, Iceland and the UK. The Lake District is stunning and the cottage to match. It is well set up for a couple, beautifully decorated and comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was so well equipped. The cottage was facing a beautiful grove of trees and although the weather wasn’t conducive to sitting outside during our stay,I could imagine sitting on the patio would be lovely in the warmer weather. The cottage also has access to the Lake and the views from the jetty were stunning. It is in a great location, close to Windermere and Ambleside but still with wonderful views away from the busy-ness of the towns.

My only suggestion would be that the BBQ needed a good clean from previous guests otherwise we would have used it.

Home away from home!

Fantastic cosy cottage that was clean, well decorated and well maintained. The location of Waterhead cottage is amazing. It is just a short walk into Ambleside and close to several good hiking trails - one of which we took to Windermere Village. Nearby Brockhole has a pier which can be used to flag down river cruises allowing for relaxing (and cheap) journeys into Ambleside or Bowness. Owner was extremely approachable and even 1st class mailed us a forgotten item without wanting payment!

1. Not much food options after 9 pm around the neighborhood, but one can always order pizza delivery from Ambleside. 2. The heating system is shared with the neighbor cottage, which can sometimes lead to temperature disagreement.

Very good

Beautiful location with short walk to Windermere Lake. Cottage had all the facility needed to make our stay comfortable. There is also BBQ provision on the lakeside which we did not use but looked like an excellent set up. Very helpful owners who live on site.
