Hostal Castilla II Puerta del Sol

Location is perfect. Close to busy areas but away from the noise. And air conditioning was much appreciated.

Decorative cover for bed and cushion didn’t look overly clean, but I just removed it from the bed.

Clean, spacious, good service and comfortable, and close to the airport and public transportation.

The location was great! In the heart of a lot of things…restaurants, shopping, things to see etc.

The receptionist who checked us in. Yelled at my husband who wasn’t sure where to put our luggage to leave since we came a little early. She also said, “I told her” referring to me. No warmth to welcome guests. Second receptionist was better, though still a tiny but rude. It was a little noisy when we returned to check in our room so we didn’t hear her when she first told us to get our luggage. Madrid was our 5th stop. All other 4 places, Barcelona, Granada, Malaga, Seville were so welcoming. You can argue that this is not a hotel, rather apartments but we also stayed in an apartment in Seville and the receptionist did a great job over there. Our room gave me an ick factor. These are the reasons why: Bottom of curtain is dirty. Hole on the wall across the bathroom. Whoever cleaned this place didn’t do a good job. I had to pick-up a few things from the floor with a disinfectant wipe. TV was crookedly hung on the wall. We tried to straighten it but it wouldn’t. Door to our room was hard to open and close. Main door to our floor doesn’t lock. Anybody is free to come and go. Looks like someone broke the lock but obviously the building didn’t get it fixed. Maybe the other apartments are better.
