About this apartment rental

A home away from home, my apartment is located in the heart of the left bank. I share it a few weeks a year with selected guests for a minimum of one week and a maximum of two weeks. It is a stylish, sunny, very comfortable and quiet modernized apartment in an old Paris building, on the top floor with a lift. It is steps away from three subway lines and buses, in the heart of St-Germain/Montparnasse.

There are two bedrooms (queen bed in one, double bed in second), an open kitchen and dining room that is a dream for cooks and elegant cosy dining (seats 8), a spacious living room with electric fireplace, a romantic bathroom and separate WC. There is Wi-Fi and an excellent sound system. There are mobile air conditioning units in bedrooms, living and dining areas, as well as ceiling fans. You will live among my books, music and art, like at home. I need to stress that as this is my home, you will also find some closet space occupied by clothing and personal effects. There is space to hang and store your own. All basic amenities are available on arrival (toiletries, dry goods for cooking, products for washing and cleaning), so no time will be taken from your holiday doing initial basic shopping.

Owner provides you with detailed tourist information and guidance about the neighborhood. The price is all-inclusive. There are no hidden extras. There are also no discounts. During most stays a cleaner will come once mid-stay in the morning.

Apartment: the apartment has oodles of charm. It is on the top floor of a 1900 building with dormer windows, is beautifully located at Metro St. Placide, with two other subway lines and several bus lines very close. It has light and sun all day from exposures in every direction. It is very quiet. All of the infrastructure is up to date and highly functional. The living space is generous, the two rental bedrooms are smallish. Beds are high quality, one queen and one standard double. The standard double bedroom has a recessed washbasin with a granite countertop. You will have Wi-Fi, a superb sound system with speakers in living and dining room, and HD television. The living room and one bedroom have desks. There is comfortable seating in the living and dining room for eight people. The kitchen is wonderful for anyone who likes to cook, with modern equipment including a washer and dryer. The bathroom has a designer tub for two that is also equipped with a rainforest shower. The toilet is separate.

Neighborhood: Between St Germain and Montparnasse, the intellectual hearts of Paris. The apartment is steps from the rue de Rennes, fifteen minutes walk from the St. Germain church or the Sorbonne, five minutes from the Luxembourg gardens, and ten minutes from the St. Sulpice church. There is a market two blocks away (Raspail) on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday (the latter is organic) and another slightly further (Edgar Quinet) on Wednesday and Saturday. Across the street is a small grocery store, and ar locavore grocery called Les Saisonniers (62 rue St. Placide) is steps away. The Bon Marché, one of the best department stores in Paris, that also has a spectacular food store, is five minutes' walk. Montparnasse railroad station is 20 minutes walk, one subway or three bus stops away. Shopping for clothing, records, books is excellent in the neighborhood. Restaurants and cafés abound, several with live music.

Transportation: There are four subway lines within short walking distance (one approximately 50 metres ) and at least eight bus lines. Taxis are easy to find.

The owner: Widow, retired from the UN. Paris apartment is my home; I have a house in Normandy a few hours away from Paris where I go during rental periods. Since renters are staying in my home, I want people who stay here to understand and agree to treat it as they would treat their own. In return, I do everything in my power to make sure you have my help to make your stay as agreeable as it can be.

I provide detailed guidance on the neighborhood in notes left for guests. If you decide to stay with me and have particular questions about tourism in Paris, let me know ahead of time and I will be happy to oblige.

We stayed here to celebrate my 60th birthday with my partner and (adult) niece for 10 days. We had a terrific stay. Everything was very comfortable and beautiful. We enjoyed Alexandra’s lovely antiques and artwork, and appreciated all the kind touches, from ac units for very hot days, to the well equipped kitchen and comfy beds and lovely bath. What a treat to open the window and see the rooftops of wonderful Paris outside every day!

The neighborhood is great, felt safe and had all conveniences. The elevator was a big plus for a recent hip injury! Alexandra was a great communicator and provided excellent dining and info about her home and local area. We had a great dinner at Georgette! Would love to return someday.

This apartment exceeded our expectations. The listing description was accurate, but the space felt even larger, brighter, and more inviting in person. It was thoughtfully furnished and full of natural light, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The owner provided a helpful welcome packet with details about the local area, including excellent restaurant recommendations that made exploring the neighborhood even more enjoyable. The location was good—a quiet neighborhood, yet easy to find and just a short walk to two different metro lines, which made getting around the city much more doable. We especially loved the nearby bakery, which quickly became a daily stop for freshly baked goods.Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Paris.
