Hotel Al Verde

The hotel is nicely situated and is very unique. It's a nice way to escape from crowds at lake Como. Be careful, though, if you are booking a double room. They have double rooms that they advertise on booking.com with large windows and balconies. They also have a couple of rooms under the roof which are old, not renovated, have tiny windows near the ceiling and look nothing like the pictures provided. Those rooms should be a different category on the website. I wouldn't make a booking if I knew what room I would get. Good that after a long negotiations they gave us a room that had a window and was a bit larger, but it still wasn't the same quality as the rooms they advertise.

The location was beautiful in the mountains! It was far off BUT the staff was very helpful and drove us everywhere! Loved it! The restaurant was AMAZING (!!!!!!)

This restaurant-hotel is a living paradise in Mandello del Lario, everything is perfect in it. But first you need to get there from the bottom of the village, since the hotel is located at the top of the village, there is no bus there, only a taxi is possible. I walked upstairs for 30 minutes, but with suitcases it is not easy, somewhere there were paths with stones instead of asphalt. But the hotel staff drove us back down by car, perhaps you can arrange a transfer with them in advance. Near the hotel there is parking, a children's area and even a trampoline. The building is surrounded by a hilly area, and its restaurant and terrace offer amazing views of the mountain, where you can have breakfast or dinner with this view, or in the evening relax with music and street lights with a good view as well. We had a room with two beds, a bathroom (necessary hygiene products, towels, hair dryer available) and a balcony, everything was comfortable. Very polite and pleasant staff. I was sorry that I spent only one night there. Breakfast was also included in the price of the booking.

Location: Be aware that the driveway down to the hotel is very steep with loose gravel. The exit road is a different route but has a sharp and narrow exit onto a hairpin at the end. I would not want to go down there in unpleasant weather conditions. There are no local amenities unless you walk down to the lake - it's about half an hour with the odd dodgy road section but not too bad. Rooms: We had a 3 bed room which was of a decent size with a few windows showing a nice view. The bathroom had an unpleasant blocked drain smell which meant we had to make sure the door was closed at all times. We got up early to leave due to timing, however we were happy to get out of our beds having been unable to sleep. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable, whilst the two pillows in our room were both completely different - one a thick rectangular block of hard foam and the other of a thin and soft variety. Whilst this seems to be more of a locals / hikers retreat which I'm certainly not adverse to, these beds were excessively uncomfortable.

Beautiful hotel, very comfortable, excellent food. Perfect place to stay for a visit to the Moto Guzzi Museum.

Great friendly staff, most beautiful location, great food in a restaurant, very clean and comfortable rooms. Playground for the kids is very useful. The surrounding view is gorgeous!

Location was way out of town. There was no guest lounge area to sit inside the hotel if the weather is bad.

Food at the restaurant was really good and personal is nice

Bedbugs and smoke smell are what you will find in first 10 minutes of your stay. Door lock won’t give you any confidence.

Everything about our stay was amazing! The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and cosy and the food was great. They serve the best Tiramisu! The mountain view from the terrace of the restaurant cures the soul. We will definitely come back!

The hotel is in an incredibly beautiful place. You open the Windows and can see an amazing view of the mountains. Clean and comfortable. Great staff! The water in the shower is warm and with great pressure. We could Park the car in front of the hotel. Good breakfast, delicious cappuccino. We highly recommend having dinner at the restaurant, it has the best polenta we ever had!

The road to the hotel is a little difficult. Make sure to take the road that is not so narrow.
