Quirky, charming, comfortable, spacious room in great city centre location

Quirky and charming spacious accommodation centrally located near to bars / restaurants etc. no ac but you could get a nice through breeze and there was a fan. Loved the little balcony - perfect to sit on and enjoy and afternoon beer. Easy check in instructions. Very near a secure underground carpark.

a wonderful retreat in a bustling town

we liked our room a lot. nicely furnished and spotlessly kept. although the property lies in the heart of town it’s really quiet. it was lovely to have a nice french breakfast ready every morning at 7.30. the communication with the host worked well and we got the necessary information well in time.

this has nothing to do with the property itself rather with the location. there is a car park nearby but we suggest leaving the car there for your stay as the traffic in clermont fd is horrendous. use public transport.

Lovely Chambre D’hôte with great facilities in a perfect location. Perfect.

I think the best word to describe La Tour Grégoire is: charming. We stayed in the ground floor apartment which was light and airy. The facilities were excellent and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was a nice touch.The location was perfect; just a few minutes stroll to the cathedral and the square with its wide choice of restaurants and bars. Parking was available just around the corner. The owner, Hugue, also runs the Il Visconti Italian restaurant and Le Chardonnay. We dined in both and thought the food was exceptional. 10/10.

Great location, very walkable, cute apartment

The location was excellent, and parking in the underground garage one block away was easy. The room we stayed in was on the top floor, but we didn't bring a lot of luggage up for just the one night. We walked to dinner at Il Visconti and it was my favorite dinner so far on this trip to France. I'd love to stay here again. Merci!

Comfortable stay in historical building in the middle of the city centre.

Of all the non-staffed facilities we've visited over the past few years (and we're not fans of the system) La Tour Grégoire could well serve as an example for others. Communication was flawless, timely mail and text in French and English with friendly, precise and as it turned out correct instructions how to open the front door, the door to the room, etc. Text messages sent by us to confirm our arrival got a prompt and friendly reply. Even our request to leave the luggage behind after checking out until we left the city was immediately followed by a positive answer. So, kudos. Location was easy to find, 15 minutes walk from the train station and in the middle of the city centre. Nice room, impeccably clean. We made no use of the kitchen facilities but they looked adequate, as was the breakfast (some items neatly stored in the fridge, modest portion of coffee by the easy-to-use coffee machine, croissants and bread hung up outside the room door in a small basket in the morning as promised). Room well shut off from outside noise and light. We'd come here again.

Bathroom facilities are a bit inconvenient: a separate toilet just next to the bed, shower room next to the toilet but a washing stand inside the room... Water piping hot, take your time to fine-tune.

Lovely spot in Clermont-Ferrand

Spacious room full of character and personality. Extremely helpful staff, quick to respond to questions. Good nearby restaurants. Comfortable bed and good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Super clean. Served my purposes well for a convenient overnight stay at the start of a trip.

If it's hot, the window of the nice ground floor room opens out a few meters from the street. The street is wonderfully quiet, but some might wonder about security, though probably not a problem. The 15-minute walk from the station includes rough surfaces and a steady uphill climb, the last stretch beautiful cobblestone, making the walk challenging if laden with luggage and/or pulling a roller bag. Nice basket of pastries is left outside the door for breakfast, but nothing for me matches a large cup of coffee! These are only considerations in a very agreeable room!

The room was very very very dark and depressing. The lighting is ver poor, even with all the lights on. There was a basket of breads that was at our door in the morning. We think if they had some quality bread, rather than a lot of bread that were not fresh and tasty, it would’ve been better. We stayed 2 nights, and there were 2 toilet rolls. What if one of us had a problem in the bathroom, like diarrhea? That’s what happened to me at another place, and it’s not fun to run out of toilet paper.

the location was good, walking distance to city center. the mattress was adequate, extra pillows would be greatly appreciated. breakfast croissants were too many for 2 people and somewhat stale. fewer but better croissants would be nice. orange juice, yogurts, jam, butter, honey and nutella are excellent condiments. coffee is ok.

the toilet seat is broken. the lighting was very dim. the floor creaked. direction to the parking was very poor.

The promotion on booking.com makes it look like a hotel. It is not. It is a chambre d'hote. Visitors need to understand this. Nevertheless the facilities were excellent for a chambre d'hote. It also looks like Parking is available - it is - in a public car park 200 metres nearby. I had assumed that like a hotel there would be lift and staff on the premisses - my fault for assuming in part - but my wife has difficulty walking and the third floor we books was only accessible by a stone stair case - not possible. The owner though was very helpful and amended our booking for an accessible ground floor room. The site is very central but not easily accessible by car - GPS through very narrow streets - could not avoid scraping the paintwork. C-F is very hilly - not good for a wheelchair.

A very nice and comfortable place in the heart of a beautiful city. While we never met the hosts in person, everything was prepared and organized in a very professional manner, and a sequence of SMS messages made sure that we found our way.
