Chambres d'hôtes Le Clos d'Hauteville

My husband and I stayed at Chambres d'hôtes Le Clos d'Hauteville for one night when driving back from the Dordogne to London. We were travelling by car with bikes on the back and were very grateful that Bernard provided us with secure underground parking at the end of the road. The house is lovely and characterful, with a beautiful private garden. The rooms are well-equipped; roomy but cosy. Christiane's breakfast - hosted on a communal table in the dining room - was exceptionally tasty and wide-ranging, setting us up for a whole day of travelling. The centre of Le Mans is c.10 minutes' walk away. It made for a memorable final evening and morning of our holiday.

That we couldn't stay for longer. However, everything was perfect for a stopover, too. We'd stay here again and highly recommend it.

Everything was fantastic

A beautiful historic house with lovely welcoming hosts who helpfully spoke very good English. The room (and en suite) was spacious and beautifully presented and the bed was large and so comfortable. The Dyson fan was very much appreciated and meant we could close the large window at night. The breakfast was exceptional- everything was thought of. Our hosts gave us a map (nice touch) and explained about La Nuit des Chimères (light festival). The private secure parking was a real bonus. Unfortunately we left something behind in the room and the hosts immediately contacted us to asked what I wanted them to do. Much appreciated.

My teenage son felt a bit uncomfortable sharing a large breakfast table with strangers but that is more a personal preference.

Hidden gem. Owners very friendly and helpful. Rooms large and comfortable and very French. Nice touch to all be seated around a large table for breakfast. Beautiful garden. Convenient parking.
