Welcoming place, lovely village. Room was a nice size, unique ideas for bathroom and loads of cupboard storage. Amenities with tea, coffees, milk (still and sparking) water and a fan. Evening meal - great pub meals. Dog friendly pub.

Guest directory - suggestion link to village website for events locally. Lights for the corridor - should be on a sensor as reflected through the door at the bottom, but not a major issue.

VERY snug room up in the eaves. My husband could not stand up straight to use the toilet because of the sloping roof and he’s not that tall! Shower cubicle in bedroom as no room in with the toilet/washbasin. Nowhere to hang any clothes. We arrived in the middle of a (well advertised!) heatwave. The south facing velux window in the roof above the bed was closed and nobody had closed the blind so the room was like an oven because the sun had been streaming through it all day. The lady who showed us to our room immediately opened the window but the heat in the room was unbearable and we had to go out for a walk to get some air! There was no fridge in the room and a small bottle of fresh milk had been left on a tray beside the coffee machine- presumably left by housekeeping when the room had been cleaned in the morning and, having sat in the heat of the room until 4pm was probably curdled and maybe dangerous! There was a fan in the room but acrobatics were required to find a suitable socket behind the TV to plug it in, which necessitated unplugging the coffee machine. The bed also had a very thick hot duvet which in the circumstances we had to lie on top of- not a good night’s sleep as a consequence. To be fair: We had booked a “snug” room but this was snug in the extreme! We did not bother to raise any of this with the staff whilst there, but at the same time nobody asked us if everything was okay during our stay and had they done so we would have raised these issues with them.

Lovely pub with very comfortable rooms and in a great location. All staff were very friendly. Enjoyed both our food in the evening as well as breakfast. Would definitely recommend and stay again when in the area.

We paid over the odds by £50 by booking on booking .com feel ripped off. We arrived early just to drop our stuff off before attending a wedding.
