Nice and cosy cottage, place ideal for a family retreat.

Cosy and great location. Fireplace is amazing and the beds are comfortable.

Wonderful cottage just in need of some minor spend and TLC.

Quaint cottage inline with expectation for the area. Spacious to accommodate 6 of us. Quiet location away from the crowds. Well appointed in terms of dishwashers and washing machines etc

Garden overgrown and could benefit from some TLC. Garden bench table also could be upgraded or fixed. Only 4 wine glasses and no corkscrew! Drip coffee machine was moldy, so maybe an upgraded machine. 65 spoons but only 10 knives and a few more forks.

Beautiful, traditional and spacious property with great views and real fireplaces.

Beautiful location. Great views. Lovely traditional property. Lots of space. Loved having a real fireplace. Nice outdoor space. Lovely details - the stable door, the spiral staircase, the extra large four-poster bed, the living room layout. Very much enjoyed by all. Thank you.

Worrying confusion over safety of tap water - conflicting info provided. Resolved quickly through messages with the owner & housekeeper but could just have been better communicated in the first place. Also position of third bathroom directly off lounge was not initially clear - seemed a bit curious - but was fine. At least they’ve done something creative with the space - was just a bit of a surprise to discover when we arrived. Maybe you could have a photo showing it’s position moor clearly - presumably some folks would see it as a bonus to be able to watch the TV from the spa bath. Finally, it could have been cleaner. Several cobwebs - even in obvious places like doorways. I know spiders are quick to make webs but several of these were very dusty too and so had clearly been there for sometime. Was also not impressed to find two toothbrushes left in the en-suite and a dark ball of hair (?!) in my bedside table… shame as both of those things left me feeling a bit icky.

We were disappointed with the amount we paid for an underrated stay.

The spacious cottage had lots of room. Also, the location was perfect.

Bad sewage smell coming from the downstairs toilet and jacuzzi room next to main lounge, we had to tolerate whilst socialising with family and very uncomfortable for our 5 month old baby.. Could not get hold of anyone regarding sorting the issue, after sending messages and also calling. Bathroom door in the master bedroom would not close when not in use, so had to use our shoe to keep it closed and the sky blind would not remain closed so had to improvise to keep the room dark for us and our 5 month old baby.

The cottage is very pretty and the outside gardens are very peaceful

The bathroom had a leak, and one of the shower heads wasn’t working properly. Unfortunately, the plumber didn’t attend to fix the issues, even though the housekeepers had reported them.

Quaint cottage - but should have been a museum.

Location

Very old cottage. Very musty especially the upholstery - gave people allergies. No bedrooms on the groundfloor so my Mum had a big problem with her bad knees. Hosts refused to let us use the adjoining empty cottage on the ground floor even after repeated requests forf help. Cobwebs and dirt accumulated on hanging utensils in the kitchen. some doors didnt shut properly. 4th bedroom has a single bed. only one enuite. fetid smell in the living room

Amazing stay at a beautiful cottage with stunning views!

Beautiful property in fantastic, quiet location with gorgeous views (we made sure to be up for the sunrise and were not disappointed)! It had everything we needed and more (some rooms felt like walking into a well kept and well preserved museum, we loved exploring them, finding something new every time 😊). Location is slightly remote, narrow little roads but absolutely fine if coming in a car. We had a superb time, thank you for having us!

The beds were not so comfortable and as it was an old house, it was quite unclean and dusty. Low ceiling and doors caused couple of accidents for anyone taller than 6ft. Especially in the darkness, it was a bit hard to reach from Bowness to the cottage from narrow roads.

The temperature at night was quite warm, and I often woke up feeling a bit sweaty, while some early evenings felt a little too chilly. Better temperature control would have been ideal. There were a few spiderwebs behind the bed and wardrobe, but they added to the cottage's rustic charm and didn’t bother me overall. The rooms had a slightly musty smell, which is to be expected in an old cottage.

Fantastic! Highly recommend

The house is stunning, beamed with low ceilings, tons of charm and a quirky design that made my family and I smile. If you want modern, look elsewhere! The children loved the spiral staircase, being able to loop around the house and play hide and seek. The shape lends itself to such antics ❤️ . There is a lovely ‘natural den’ in the garden, bottom left corner through the Laurel… Perfect amount of space, so grandpa could sit in the snug and others could play games and or chat in other areas.. we never felt crowded. We had a couple of issues that were put right by a text and someone coming out within 6hrs. The view is worth the drive up and down, indeed the drive itself has amazing views! Four of us cooked for nine on one occasion, so I know the kitchen works well.. not large, but most things are there. Oddly, the kitchen has no electric whisk. All communication was friendly and professional, thank you for being so prompt when we ask for assistance ❤️

Bed mattress in the main bedroom was a little to soft. We had an issue with the spa bath, but that was fixed so quickly I wondered who was married to a plumber!

Had a lovely stay in this beautiful old cottage and hope to stay again soon.

Lovely view from the shared garden. Kitchen fully equipped for any meal. Four poster bed very atmospheric. The cottage is full of quirky and interesting nick-knacks and has a very chilled vibe about it. Masons Arms, the pub that is about a mile away serves amazing food but make sure you book if you plan to eat there.

Attached to the side is a small modern bungalow with lots of glass windows that overlooks the cottage and it's garden so it's not secluded. Make sure to look out for the pot holes on the single track roads. Entrance into drive very tight if you have more than an average size car. Wifi drops in out, but it's a beautiful old building in a rural setting so that's to be expected.

The location was peaceful with stunning views. Inside, the property was character-rich and comfortable for our family. We were nicely taken care by our host with constant communication and helpful advice.

We hope BT can repair the wifi in due course. Nobody's fault when a tree falls on the lines!

Fantastic!

Superb property, very well equipped, had everything we needed. Location is rural but you can walk to the Masons Arms pub - which we did. Fab property!

Unfortunately for us the WIFI wasn't working but this was not the fault of the owners, it was a BT fault. But they did everything they could, Aly was super helpful and we made our own fun! Typical lakes weather weather for us as you can see on the photos :-)

Wonderful stay

We loved the setting and view, the unique charm of the cottage and the tasteful decoration. It was so full of character but extremely well kitted out with virtually everything you need. We loved sitting outside enjoying the wonderful view and meeting the beautiful visiting peacock who we named Jerry. It’s a very peaceful location. Ali the first point of contact during our stay was very welcoming, helpful and friendly and she maintains the cottage to a high standard of cleanliness.

Everything was great but the bed in the first bedroom at the top of the stairs wasn’t comfortable and I think the mattress needs replacing.

Lovely old remote cottage.

The remoteness. Peace and quiet. The cottage has absolutely everything you need. A home away from home. Lovely surprise of Prosecco and biscuits. Lovely old quirky cottage with great views. The visits from a peacock and greater spotted woodpecker were an added bonus.

Cottage is a bit dark. Would have appreciated some brighter light bulbs or some reading lamps as it was hard to read in any of the rooms except whilst in the jacuzzi! Didn't spoil the holiday though.

Beautifully quaint cottage with traditional features and and great views. A personal highlight was the fireplaces and master bedroom!

We couldn’t drink the tap water due to drought shortage but we were warned by the owner in advance so wasn’t an issue.
