Splendid, we'll stay there again !

The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The rooms are cosy in a traditional style and have everyting you need. The meals are truly excellent and pricing is very reasonable.

Nothing at all apart from the fact that cellphone coverage is under par, but that's not the Crown's fault of course.

Enjoyed the Stay.

Traditional British Inn, which the locals use for meals and drinks. Rooms had showers and bath, large bed and clean. I liked the personal touches the owners made. Staff helpful with local advice.

The Crown fully deserves its high review scores

We stayed at The Crown for Burghley Horse Trials, - only 10 miles away. Our room was comfortable and quiet, we parked the car just ouside and there were no stairs to climb. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food well prepared and presented.

We found the food portions were too large and wished there had been a 'light bites' or senior citizens menu so as to avoid waste

Enjoyable country pub with good rooms.

We had a light supper on the day of our arrival. The menu had a good choice and the food was well prepared and presented. Breakfast the next morning was very tasty. The staff who served us were very professional and lovely.

Good rooms but limited time for an overnight stay (check in 3pm, check out 10am)

Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get into our room early before a 12 noon wedding as they had noted the wrong time of arrival. Not a huge problem as we were unsure if it would be available anyway. We wasn’t asked about breakfast so had to text while we were at the wedding to make sure we were booked in We wasn’t advised of our room location so had to call the WhatsApp number at 11pm to find out where it was (it was above the pub rather than in the annexe and there is no signage). The phone signal is awful and I was wondering round the village trying to get service in order to get a signal to speak to someone. Was actually quite concerned at one point that we were not going to be able to get into our room It is a lovely location and within walking distance for a wedding at All Saints Church and Elton Hall but do not think it is particularly good value for money

A very pleasant pub in which to stay

This is a very attractive thatched pub set in an idyllic village. We stayed on a Monday night and had been told that their restaurant was closed. However they brought a couple of excellent sandwiches to the room. The room was nicely decorated and there was an adjoining shower room. It was quiet and we slept well. Breakfast was good. The room had an outside area which would have been nice if the weather had been better.

My only criticism would be that the weather in early June was grim and the room was cold when we arrived. There was an electric radiator but it this took some hours to warm the room. It would have been great if someone had turned it on prior to our arrival.

Great Location, Great Service and Amenities - Highly Recommended

Fantastic Sunday Lunch, great service. The room was lovely, so many nice touches and everything you could reasonably expect, and then a little more. Above all else, the staff sprinkled a little extra icing on the cake - a great stay, we would definately return.

It’s beautiful, simply that! I couldn’t wait to get inside and it far exceeded my expectations. Tastefully decorated and beautifully clean. I’d booked 2 garden rooms which were able to be connected! Felt like we were in a private bungalow. Easy access and car can park right outside. Owner super helpful and went out of his way to drop us to a family wedding in the next village. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Food good! Thank you!!

Very pleasant stay in first class surroundings

Location was great. Room was stylishly decorated and bed comfy. Liked having a nightlight and thought the flapjack and fresh milk were a nice touch.

I would have liked to have breakfast but felt that £30 was rather a steep price to pay. Perhaps a continental option might have been nice?

A lovely pub / hotel in a pretty village offering great value for money

The room was very good: spacious, modern, well decorated, in excellent condition, the bed was huge and comfy, the bathroom was great and the room came with its own private garden. One of the nicest hotel rooms I've stayed in. There was lots of parking. The breakfast was also very good. I stayed only one night prior to visiting Burghley the next day. I hope to return in the future.

1 breakfast was terrible (really fatty cooked breakfast, limited buffet, very small overfull and loud breakfast room 2 dinner was very poor (one of four mains was unavailable and we weren't told until wanted to order it) plus steak was very leathery, awful, plus paper napkins (supposed to be top place) plus poor starters

Breakfast a lack of fresh fruit

The shower pressure was very very poor. They changed the hose because it had a split in it but still didn't any difference. The Shower cubicle tiles needed regrouting or refurbished rather dirty. Dinner was good but the wait was 45 minutes before we got food.

The staff were very welcoming and the food was wonderful.

It took a while to work out where the fresh milk was for coffee in the morning. A little folded card sign on the dresser to would be a lovely touch.
