Excellent welcome, fabulous food!
Nothing to report!

Comfortable bed. Good shower. Relaxing pub which had character.
Door linking accommodation to pub needs to be unlocked consistently (breakfast time etc). Milk sachets need to be replenished more frequently and spare loo roll left in room.

Brilliant large room set aside from the Queens Head. Very quite. Great breakfast and excellent coffee. Will stay again. Ideal place to stay if visiting Nene Valley Railway.

Food and staff
Damp in the room
No hot water in the morning
No responsible person on site to deal with my complaint
Had to make alternate arrangements for my family to get a hot shower
Hotel contacted me after I had left the hotel
As a guest you should not have to go around looking for switches to turn on the hot water

The breakfast was okay. There were three of us, we all had cooked breakfast. We all had eggs done differently – I had fried egg, that was great, one of our party had scrambled which was okay, and the other person had poached which was like a hard boiled egg, so not great. The mushrooms were lovely, the tomato had only glanced at the frying pan and could have been cooked a bit more. There was a good selection offered – cereal, juice, toast and cooked breakfast. I had a veggie breakfast, but if you're a meat eater, on offer were sausages, bacon and black pudding.
A little more attention paid to the cooked eggs, in particular the scrambled and poached eggs.

Lovely old pub with annexe rooms and large garden backing onto river. Room 5 had a comfortable bed with a decent shower. Lovely location in a pretty village.
Reception desk/area is not welcoming, untidy.
Room 5 has too much furniture to sit comfortably at the table. Maybe the desk could be removed. Double + single bed (not advertised as having both) and a spare mattress in the sliding wardrobe.
The lovely garden has some unsafe wooden furniture, rickety, with exposed nails. I mentioned this to the owner at check out, who was already aware.
The breakfast could be more organised/prepared, we had to ask several times for items, cereal bowls/milk/spoons etc. as did the other guests.

Self contained rooms, spacious
Do not stay here. No idea where the 4* rating came from as this isn’t the experience we had.
In short - rooms are very tired, and service is almost non existent.
The longer version:
Rooms - spacious and self contained, with a decent shower, but otherwise very tired with sagging spring mattress, dirt and spiders in every corner, stained carpets, broken toilet seat… the list goes on. There was also a strong chemical/ paint smell but no evidence of fresh paint.
Service - both check in and breakfast were managed by teenage staff, who while lovely, had clearly not been trained and had no idea what to do. There wasn’t a soul in sight at check out so we just left our key.
Breakfast- was like something from a sitcom.
One person doing all the cooking and service. No menus just “what do you want?” then items brought one at a time by the waitress who was trying her best but had no idea of even the basics (cup, then spoon, then coffee, then milk, then toast, then butter, then sauce… all brought separately, multiplied by the 4 tables in the room who by this point were just rolling our eyes at one another and wishing each other luck!)
I know this isn’t an expensive or fancy place, but even the basics like comfort, cleanliness, or feeling welcomed as a guest, are not in place. It’s a shame as the location has great potential.

Location is wonderful! Facilities were fine but reception was filthy! It needs to be smartened up and deep cleaned. I wondered if this reflected the state of kitchen cleanliness?

Ganz ok. Die Lage ist sehr schön, ruhig und der Zugang super. Parkplatz direkt vor dem Zimmer ist top.
Teppich ist etwas schmuddelig. Kein Zimmerservice .
