It was all great

Probably one of the best resorts we have stayed at! The staff are very friendly and hospitable right from the moment we got here. They welcomed us with a blessing and a welcome drink and always checked in every day to ensure the room was meeting expectations. The included breakfast was healthy and delicious and composed a 4 course breakfast meal with many selections. The resort facilities were always well maintained - pools,spa facilities, common areas and all the rooms. Rooms were serviced multiple times a day and we felt if there was any issues the staff were always there to help. My wife and I travel a lot and have stayed at many resorts and hotels around Europe and Australasia and this is our first time in Bali and honestly been blown away by the level of hospitality at the Alena. We would definitely recommend this and will be visiting again.

We chose one of the outdoor villas. Being closer to Ubud and near rice fields and the forest you are closer to nature which means you sometimes get lizards, gecko, snails, slugs and the occasional frog / toads visiting. The original villa we booked had an open bathroom area separated by only a curtain between the private pool and the bathroom and on one of the nights we had an unexpected friendly visitor. Once we notified the staff, the staff immediately were so apologetic about this and immediately offered to upgrade us as well as offer us a free 30 minute massage. We were not expecting an upgrade at all and were very grateful for the level of service. This was the only issue we faced during our stay here but the staff remedied it even though it wasn't there fault at all - given the surrounding nature of the resorts in Ubud it is expected to see frogs / toads / lizards in many rooms around Ubud area. Very thankful to the staff for handling this minor inconvenience so professionally. Would recommend The Alena to all visiting Ubud.

Beautiful property. Villa Arjuna was a delightful place to stay. The Spa is amazing, and they have the best treatments. The food was great. And the Staff was sooo friendly, welcoming and attentive.

Their professionalism, personal attention, and sincere care made us feel truly welcomed and valued as guests. Dewa’s personal touch and dedication to guest satisfaction are truly outstanding. We would also like to express our deep appreciation to Spa Manager Rani and her wonderful spa team. They kindly stayed open twice beyond regular hours just for us, which touched us deeply. The treatments were excellent, relaxing, and delivered with such kindness and grace — a truly memorable experience. The restaurant team also deserves special recognition. The service was consistently warm, attentive, and very guest-oriented. A special thank you to Mika, whose friendliness, professionalism, and genuine smile made every dining experience even more enjoyable. The resort itself is beautiful, peaceful, and perfectly located in nature, offering a true sense of relaxation and tranquility. This resort truly lives up to its name, it is a genuine five-star experience. I don’t even know where to begin in describing how amazing and incredibly comfortable my stay was. First and foremost, the manager, Mr. Dewa, is truly exceptional and highly professional. He ensured our stay was extremely comfortable, catered to all our needs, and made sure that any inconvenience was resolved immediately. There is absolutely nothing to complain about, as everything was perfect and I would give this hotel a 10/10 rating. All the staff are always available and ready to help whenever needed. They are punctual, responsive, and incredibly friendly, always full of warmth and positive energy. I was especially touched by how the staff remembered our names, a small but very meaningful gesture and by how respectful and attentive everyone was. The food at the restaurant was outstanding, not only delicious but also nourishing. All the ingredients were fresh, and both the quality and quantity of the food were very generous. I would also like to give special thanks to Ms. Swari, who was incredibly sweet and helpful. She always showed us to our rooms, guided us around the resort, and made sure we were well taken care of. Similarly, I would like to thank Mr. Ode and Ms. Dessi for their assistance and for always greeting me with such positivity. Furthermore, the spa at the hotel is absolutely heavenly. Words truly cannot describe how incredible the experience is. The therapists genuinely understand your needs, and every single penny spent there is completely worth it. I highly recommend the spa, they even offer a 15-minute welcome massage, which adds the perfect finishing touch to an already five-star experience. In addition, it was my parent’s anniversary, and the team went above and beyond to make it truly special. They beautifully decorated the room, provided us with a cake, and created a heartfelt moment for my parents.

Absolutely incredible stay at the Alena Resort. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived and were always so well looked after by every single staff member. Everyone knew us by name and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything. My partner is anaphylactic to nuts and the staff always triple checked all the food to make sure he was safe. The menu was fantastic with a wide range of food options and the breakfast was extremely generous and tasty every day. The staff helped us book day trips and made restaurant reservations for us, communicating my partner’s allergies to every venue we went to. The resort itself was beautiful, with gorgeous traditional balinese-style rooms and two wonderful pools. Room service was always available and the staff were extremely easy to reach both through WhatsApp and the hotel phone line. The spa was also fantastic, with many treatment options available - so good that we went back a second time! I cannot recommend Alena Resort enough, we are very sad to be leaving and can’t wait to come back soon!

I really loved everything about it and have nothing negative to share. While some people might find it’s a little far from the centre (15-20 min drive), the resort provides several free shuttles to and from the centre daily, and it was very easy and cheap to get Grabs if the shuttle schedule didn’t work for us. Plus the advantage of being a little further is that it was really quiet and serene, we slept really well and the resort felt extremely peaceful away from the business of ubud roads.

Alena Resort is a truly magical place, beautifully immersed in nature with a unique boutique atmosphere and authentic Balinese soul. The surroundings are peaceful and inspiring, perfect for a relaxing stay in Ubud. The food was delicious, but what impressed us the most was the amazing team. When our child had sunburn, one staff member brought fresh aloe from her own home — an unforgettable gesture of genuine care. Highly recommended. A place with heart that we would love to return to. 💚

Exceptional stay here at the Alena Resort. We were looking for a relaxed resort to take a few days down time on route to Australia. This was an excellent decision especially with the e-gates at the airport sailing through Bali immigration took about a minute if you pre-do paperwork. We were warmly welcomed and given information about the resort. Free yoga , Balinese culture classes , free shuttle to central Ubud are all available, we however just wanted to relax from the long journey. The pool was delightful! It is rainy season now but it really doesn’t matter as if there’s a downpour you can hop over to the spa and relax in the jacuzzi , steam and sauna instead. Massages were brilliant. The breakfast is sublime. It’s an ala carte menu ( I remember one review saying they were disappointed as it wasn’t a buffet, but what’s not to love about freshly cooked food to order?!) . You get to pick from each category for example , hot beverage of choice , cold fresh juice of choice. Bakery option. Fruit and yoghurt granola selection and combos. Main breakfast anything from smoked salmon bagels to Indonesian classics , omelet , Korean or Indian food. There is so much on offer. The restaurant for lunch and dinner was awesome too. The staff are all amazing and nothing is too much trouble for them. It really was a fantastic experience and we will return!

Very clean, well air conditioned room, both pools were lovely and surrounded by nice greenery. Bed was comfortable. Great additional facilities, especially the spa. Food/drink options at the restaurant were delicious every time.

Shower in the room had some drainage issues when ran for a while.

We had a wonderfully decorated Villa with a private pool. The staff was extremely friendly and forthcoming and provided service that left nothing to wish for. Happy to stay there again.

The location is south of the center of Ubud while many attractions are more in the north. However, it is easy (and cheap) to get a driver at any time of the day.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. The resort is really beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. It was a quiet period so often the spa was empty - it felt like we had our own private hot tub and sauna! I had a massage here too which was very relaxing. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a relaxing stay for a few days in Ubud.

The resort is a short drive (around 18 mins) from central Ubud, which is fine, but just be aware that you will not be within walking distance of other amenities! That being said, it is very easy to get a taxi to/from the centre of Ubud, and the hotel runs a shuttle there too.

A beautiful secluded resort. Quiet, relaxed and attended to by warm and friendly staff. If you want to completely decompress and relax, The Alena Resort is for you. Their restaurant is actually price competitive for the quality of food. I highly recommend their dinner menu and they also have a special menu on certain nights, the staff will be sure to inform you. I also highly recommend the hotel's day tours. Their drivers (ours was Gusti) are highly knowledgeable about culture and local customs. Great conversations at each location for the Kintamani tour we did.

Excellent stay at Alena’s hotel! Everything was perfect—the room, the service, and the breakfast were amazing. The spa was fantastic, and of course, the Balinese massages were the highlight. Truly a wonderful experience!

We loved everything!!

Everything! It was a wonderful experience in an exceptional hotel. The place is warm and welcoming, you feel like you're part of the family, at home. It's a hotel on a human scale, which is also very appreciable and can be felt in the quality of the service provided. Whether it was the reception, the rooms, the restaurant or the spa, everyone we met was smiling and attentive. Let's not forget the wonderful Gusti, who went out of his way to show us the most beautiful treasures of this marvellous island through various tours.

We really enjoyed our stay. The resort is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the restaurant food was extremely delicious. The service was excellent, and the staff were very kind, helpful, and welcoming.

The staff was incredible, from organising my mother-in-law's birthday as a surprise welcome, completely unexpected, to being incredibly friendly. The wifi was not working in the region, and they offered us 30-minute free massages at the amazing spa. The staff and front office manager were always attentive and responsive to our requests.

Food was so average. We went for dinner and was pretty disappointed, breakfast OK. I wouldn’t rate it 4.6/5. We’ve got a situation going on, and the resolution was not what we expected.

The resort is beautiful; lush greenery woven into the design, creating that authentic Bali feel while still feeling modern, intimate, and refined. Even though the property was clearly busy, it somehow remained peaceful and quiet, a sanctuary where we could truly relax. The food was excellent (both the Indonesian dishes and the international options). But what really set The Alena apart was the service. I’ve only ever experienced this level of attention on a luxury cruise. Despite having many guests to look after, the team made us feel like we were the only ones there. So many staff members remembered our names and went out of their way to check in on us. We felt genuinely cared for, in the best possible way. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary and had arranged a few special experiences including a flower pool, a photo shoot, and a romantic candlelight dinner. Everything was arranged perfectly and handled with such warmth and precision. A great example: at the last minute, my wife decided to switch from the set dinner menu, the staff handled it instantly and cheerfully, no fuss at all. It was an unforgettable stay, made special not just by the setting but by people who clearly take pride in making guests feel welcome.
