Tianyi Homestay

Great homemade, Taiwanese-family style breakfast. Better than what you'd get at a Taiwanese breakfast store or a Taiwanese restaurant. Their dog is awesome; he comes along on hikes and even waits outside of restaurants for you.

Rooms can be a little cool. The sinks are low to the ground.

The place was convenient for travelers by public transit. The place has 6 local trails that are amazing (very hilly but great views). The owners are very helpful and they would take us to local bus stop that's 12 min walk away so we can catch the bus into Fenchihu or Alishan. They have 3 cats and 1 3 legged dog and they're all very friendly. The owners would ask us our itinerary and give us tips. The room is spacious and the mountain stays cool/cold even during hot Taiwan summer that a fan is enough to keep you cool at night. The bed is very comfy and clean. They also offer delicious buffet style breakfast that is home cooked.

The bathroom sink water pressure is weak because it's older. The room we were in (green bird) didn't have a divider between shower and toilet and sink so the whole floor gets wet and the bubbles would flow to the sink area and I'll need to use a cup to flush the bubbles down the drain.

It has nice views from the room. Close to the lookout for sunset (unfortunately we didn’t get to see it due to the weather) Beautiful tea farm area. Amazing smells. Hosts are very very nice. The father and his daughter and son were more than welcoming. They have tea picking experience for a fee which my daughter and I enjoyed. Rooms are clean.

If you don’t have a car you have to rely on the bus to go around or to the mountain or you can arrange it with a host for a fee. Bring extra cash. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit dated.

A friendly, welcoming Homestay with a tasty breakfast. The team is always willing to help, whether it’s advice on activities or a lift to the bus stop. Even the dog will guide you on your hike. Location is away from the very touristy areas, which is a nice break. Fantastic walking trails in the area, and good restaurants a 15 minute walk away.
