Love the style of the property with a lovely lounge and terrace where you can have your breakfast or lunch . Also has a kitchen to cook your own food . We liked the Japanese style room which is traditional with tatami and futon. Absolutely loved the onsen after the long walk in the evening, very relaxing.
It is closed to Hakone centre but can be difficult to reach by foot with luggage or heavy backpacks but we took a cab and was very cheap to reach the hostel. Also the futon can feel hard to sleep and back hurt a bit the next day but the experience to do for 2 nights was still worthy .

Onsen is very small. Luckily it was not busy the day I booked. Walking distance from bus stop so ensure you carry light luggage

Booked a big family room
Location terrible. Very few buses and they were unreliable. Had to take taxis when available. The hill is very steep and long. Wished we’d booked a better location. . Also the Onsen is not real spring water it has a strong smell chlorine.
