RoheN HAKONEYUMOTO

A beautifully restored old wooden building just across the river from the Hakone-Yumoto train station. The common spaces were spectacularly designed. It had a bar and a limited food menu was offered. I stayed in one of the private bunks and it was very comfortable. There were three very clean individual shower rooms downstairs and three sink areas as well. Shampoo, soap, towels were provided. Upstairs was a huge lounge with coffee and tea available. Wifi was good. As it was raining really hard, I had my dinner and breakfast there. The curry at night was very good and the chasuke breakfast was perfect. They also had barista coffee. Staff was helpful although English may not be their strong suit. Nevertheless I had no trouble getting my needs met.

Excellent contemporary hotel with standout architecture and an on-site cafe/restaurant. I booked late over a public holiday weekend, so the only option left was a dorm-style room—surprisingly cosy and ideal for a solo traveller. Lockers for bags were provided, which freed up space in the room. I ate at the cafe/restaurant both nights and appreciated the guest microwave for bringing my own meals, which I did one day for lunch. The weather was very rainy, and I caught a cold, so RohenN became a dry, comfortable haven where I could relax during the day. I also booked the private onsen on both nights - bonus. A fantastic find and a place I will definitely come back to.

The second night at the onsen, I thought the water could have been hotter. I guess that's a personal choice, and they try to accommodate all needs.

Beautifully curated, with private Onsen, great food, just an all round amazing stay in the wonderful Hakone area.

The stairs to the bedroom- a little precarious if you’re not used to them.

A very beautiful open spacious interior with a variety of sitting areas to have a meal, visit, day-trip plan, or just enjoy a coffee. My room was nicely finished and comfortable; good firm bed and good shower.

The ceiling in the sitting area was too low for me to do my morning yoga, because the bed loft is above the sitting area. The stairs to the bed are steep and narrow and bed ceiling is very low. I'm only 5'1" so could maneuver okay.
