Guest House Darejani

Comfortable large room with en-suite bathrooms (where hot water functions well), and common spaces, both indoors and outdoors, with kettle, teabags, cups, plates, and cutlery provided. Very quiet location. A cobblestoned climb up from downtown, roughly at the elevation of nearby Bagrati Cathedral, and with its own driveway for those with their own set of wheels. The very friendly host treated us to a glass of wine.

The hosts introduced themselves well. I was treated to a coffee and cake which made me feel welcome. The room was clean, there was a heater, and outside the room there was a kettle and cups to use. They didn't immediately ask me for money which always feels great. The lady also shared homemade kachapuri which was really sweet of her. I had tried sharing my meals with them but they had had the same thing so no point :)

The bathroom was small. When I asked about the kitchen usage, the host first said no and then unwillingly showed the kitchen, which was also the family kitchen. I think they weren't happy about me using it. I had to go to their house to access it, from a back entrance. Initially they came in to show me the things I could use, but my activity was closely watched. I mean if I left, thinking of returning to get a refill, in between the lights would be switched off etc. You can't cook with ease here but can just heat up some stuff. They also try to not be out and about in the garden when you sit outside on the guest terrace. This might make them think that they are giving the guests more privacy but it becomes quite obvious and then you know you are being watched, if you are outside or not. My humble advice to the host: Please move around as you like. Please provide an independent kitchen if you can :)

Everything was super , classy family , clean room, comfortable, privacy , safe.
