Guest House Bokuyado

I loved the board game theme, the retro, quirky decor, and the kind staff.

I dropped my AirPod behind the bed and when I retrieved it I noticed it was quite dirty under there, with dust and trash.

We had such a great stay in guest house Bokuyado! The location is brilliant as it’s not too far from everything- city is walkable distance and main Kyoto station is very close for day trips! The staff were friendly, the house itself was beautiful and felt super authentic and homely- with the tatami mats and futons, just what we were after. We also purchased the board game based on the guesthouse which the owner made! Such a special way to top of a fantastic stay. Thank you guest house Bokuyado!!

It had everything you needed plus a little extra like board games and tea bags.

My top bunk didn’t smell fresh. It had a slight odor to it but some might say I have a sensitive nose.

The place itself is nice, with the little garden outside. The staff is polite and has tried to help us when needed. The equipments were okay, lots of games too!

The room we had was quite bad. We were next to reception, our windows showing the passing street - because of the non-existent soundproofing, it was like we were sleeping outside: we were hearing EVERYTHING. All the guests slamming the front door (please stop), the steps from the dorm above and especially every car and every pedestrian on the street! Despite the earplugs, we did not sleep well during any of our six nights, hence why I can't put more than 5. If you are in the dorm or in another room, it's probably more like a 8+... Also my friend has noticed some quite dirty parts in both bathrooms - I didn't. But it's still a nice place if you can avoid the room we had.
