Maison Bianca B&B

The property was quiet and clean, a great place to go back to after a day of exploring. Breakfast was great.

A more secure space to hold bags would be nice, though the B&B itself is very secure and feels safe. We didn’t want to walk back at night due to the location behind the train station.

We chose this for its proximity to Santa Maria Novella railway station. Check in is from 11am and our room was ready by this time, which is excellent if you arrive early and want to leave your luggage. Although situated on a very busy road, the building is well soundproofed against traffic noise. The room was basic but clean, with a compact bathroom. Breakfast is served in a cosy room. There were pastries, cheese and ham, cereals, yogurt, juice, a fruit bowl, and hot drinks are made for you. I'd requested gluten free bread and that was provided, along with GF muffins. There's a kettle on the landing for guests to make drinks at other times - on our second evening it disappeared but a message to the owner resulted in it being replaced almost instantly! The best walking route to and from SMN railway station (not shown on Google Maps because it's on railway property and closed at night) is to walk the length of platform 16 to the exit, and continue down the ramp to Montelungo bus station, continue straight ahead on the right hand side of the road (to stay on the level), and turn left under the railway along Viale Filippo Strozzi, where Maison Bianca will be on your left. This is much smoother and easier for wheeling a case than the route along Via delle Ghiacciaie to the west of the tracks.

Price was on the high side, but it was actually one of the cheapest places we could find in central Florence.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and comfortable.

Check in is booked at 11am. I arrived at 11:30ish and my room wasn’t ready. But the ladies were nice to accommodated us with water and coffee to wait and she was cleaning and setting up our bedroom.

It would have been good to have been warned about pickpocketing on the tram as one of us had our wallets, credit cards and cash aken the other had their reading glasses and case taken.
