A very comfortable place just a few blocks from the center of town. The house had seven guest rooms, each with a private bath. The eighth room was for the onsite manager, who was very helpful throughout my stay and a pleasure to talk to.
The kitchen was sufficient to meet the guests' cooking needs and it was nice to not have to eat out for every meal. The place was pleasant and most guests were middle aged travelers. This was certainly not a party hostel. Also having the manager living onsite help alleviate any possible issues, though there were none during my stay..
There really weren't any issues to speak of. I would definitely stay here again.

The location is central to most amenities, and within walking distance of one of the Maya ruins (Cahal Pech).
Hugo, the manager is friendly and very helpful with suggestions.
The kitchen is large and well ventilated, with necessary appliances, dishes, pots, etc.
Noise travels. When guests use the kitchen early morning and talking loud, it can be difficult to sleep. For the most part, it was not frequent.

Great hostel close to centre, and 10 minutes from Hodes where most shuttle buses come and go from. Safe area, gated, key locked main access, own key to room. Friendly, helpful owner (Hugo) with a lot of local information (thank you!). Very clean. Excellent wifi/internet/network throughout. Good sized, well stocked kitchen. Fridge/freezer, 5 ring gas hob/oven, small electric oven, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle (tea & instant coffee available), table and chairs to eat at. Drinking water supplied. Large shared area with sofas, outside balconies with seats and area for drying clothes. Generally quiet. Books on display, but not sure if swappable.
Large bedroom, 1 double and 1 single bed. Bedside table, chair and lamp. Storage cupboard (with electronic safe). Flat screen TV (but no streaming). Bin. Fan and air-conditioning (but not too hot or cold). Plenty of powerpoints. Good lighting. Was able to check in early on arrival.
Smallish bathroom, but best hot shower for months! Hot water to sink too. Towel hooks.
No signs of recycling (but cupboard under sink seemed to be used for glass bottles, cans etc). Cash only (but both US and Belize $'s accepted). No hooks for wet clothes. Light not brilliant in bathroom. Needs more knives and teaspoons in kitchen. Lots of rooms next to kitchen (including ours) so guests (and owner sometimes) should be more considerate and not talk so loud early morning!

Fantastic location in same street as the main tour companies. Hugo was a fantastic host. Large fridge for food storage and large, well equipped kitchen.

Hugo, location, security, common area. Early check in and when leaving van was late so relax in common room after checkout.
Dated room: dresser & nightstand drawers not working & missing handles. Old curtains & bedding that slip off mattress.

Clean but very basic. well located in San Ignacio town. Air conditioning works well
Bed wasn’t very comfortable, bed spring stuck out of the mattress. Rooms are dark, not well lit

I stayed five nights at Don Santiago, and wasn't ready to leave. The room was spacious and comfortable (AC and fan both worked great). The kitchen and common area were well-equipped. It really felt like home. The location is great, just a bit up from the main pedestrian area, but close enough to walk to everything of interest. Hugo was a great host, always available, super kind and helpful.
The decor is a bit bland. The mattress was not the most comfortable, and the sheet kept slipping off because it wasn't a good fit. These are minor things though.

The hospitality of the host, Hugo. He also provided useful information about border crossing to Guatemala and helped with luggage up/down the stairs. The room is spacious and clean, there is cable TV with lots of channels and air conditioning is strong.
The stairway to go up to the rooms and the hard bed.

The manager was very helpful and responsive upon our early check in and later extension requests. He also provided tips about getting a taxi so we would not be charged unreasonably. We were happy about the very convenient location and the AC worked great during our stay.
There is no window or exhaust fan to vent the bathroom so the moisture and smell vented into the bedroom.

Hugo was extraordinary kind and helpful. Very family friendly.
Fully equipped kitchen and drinking water available.
Very centrally located and still a parking lot in front of the door available.
For 10 Belize Dollar Hugo did our laundry within only a few hours.
Extremely good value for money. Regarding the price, I rate this 10, even though it's no luxurous hotel.

Locations is great, good price for the value, clean rooms, AC and WiFi. There is a living room and kitchen you can use.
Simple facilities, nothing bad to mention.

Excellent location, decent wifi. Clean. Host was helpful and carried my case up the narrow steps. Cold water dispenser and full feature kitchen handy for those who wanted to cook. At £28 a night, excellent value
Sink could have done with a plug in it and a couple of bulbs weren't working, but nothing that made me complain about them. I'm sure they'd have been fixed if I'd asked

Great location for downtown. Some very nice restaurants within walking distance. Good place to stay for the cost.
Room small and cramped. Layout was really only conducive to sleeping. Difficult to find as no clearly visible sign.

It was a great location to see San Ignacio from. It's close to everything but still far enough from the busy areas to be quiet.
The manager was very helpful.
The rooms next to the kitchen can be very loud in the morning when people are making breakfast so you won't be able to sleep in.

Free water which was quite cold
Great shower
Safe in the room
Hugo the manager was very pleasant to deal with
Bed was very loud and creaky every time you turned over
Furniture and bedding a little dated (but was clean!)
Noise travelled so you could heard a fair bit from outside the room

This is my second stay at Don Santiago‘s. The location is perfect, so close to the downtown as well as the big market, which has excellent outside restaurants at incredible prices. The manager, Hugo lives on the property and is available if there are any issues which will be taken care of immediately. There’s a wonderful kitchen that is well stocked with all the equipment you will need and basic spices and available for you to make yourself coffee in the morning as well as anything else. (full-size refrigerator freezer for you to store food that you purchase at the market or stores for cooking.)

The host Hugo and his team Javier and Nellie were exceptional. Best host I’ve encountered so far on my bookings. Very informative and helpful. Property is 1 block away from banks, restaurants and bars, the fresh market, and grocery stores. Best location in San Ignacio.

The guesthouse is in a great location.
The beds were a little uncomfortable. They only accept cash for the stay and did not let you know in advance.

Super friendly staff and a great value for our money. The AC worked very well, and the shower had hot water and good pressure. They provided free, filtered water for those staying at the property. Definitely recommend!
The only thing to note is that one of the beds was a little squeaky. We're definitely not complaining about that, though. All in all, this room was a great value, and we were comfortable. Just an FYI if you have a bad back.

The staffs were really kind, they even allowed us to check-in early since we arrived earlier than anticipated. The rooms was nice and comfy and very spacious. They have a communal kitchen which was fabulous. The location was close to everything and only walking distance to the local bus station.
The internet lagged a bit in our room but the host and staff did help to get it fixed (wasn't as strong but still good😁)...not really their fault...technology😅

The boss, Hugo, was very helpful. Let me leave my bag so I could go on an all day tour and pick it up afterward. Central location is very close to tour operators for early AM departures.
Friday night, extended late night noise from bar goers on the street around 3AM.

My room had a private bathroom, A/C, good bed and even a full length wall mirror. The guesthouse had a huge kitchen with tea and other amenities and a large living room that wasn’t used much. The manager was friendly and helpful. The location is excellent.
The guest house is basic without a lot of atmosphere so not a place to hang out in.

Spacious rooms, comfortable beds... Also, well equipped kitchen, even a washing machine was available.
Last but not least, Hugo, the manager is super friendly, gives valuable info, even offered drive to border!
MANY THANKS!

We liked making our own tea and coffee and we loved the swing seat on the balcony. Good Location, try Spot Cafe, noisy speaker on street but is off but lovely garden with chilled music at rear and food good.

Kitchen could do with some more cutlery and stovetop for easier cooking.
