Loved it, will visit again, and staff and management were also excellent.

The apartment we stayed in was gorgeous, with beautiful views, top notch. Absolutely loved it and will return, many times - as my daughter lives very close by. We have had other suites before and they are all great. The staff were very helpful and understanding as there were a couple of one off problem’s - heating and hot water. This has never happened before and I guess we were just unlucky this time, problems occur. They were also amazing in their approach after the visit, which we appreciate.

The disadvantages were enormously outweighed by the advantages!

The apartment was very comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The situation of the building is quite exceptional in being surrounded by ancient buildings and streets, and having many unusual features such as 17C fireplaces.

Facilities and equipment to enable guests to clean and wash up! There was only one dishwasher capsule, and no dustpan & brush that we could find. Scourer sponges for the sink would have helped. Car parking was not easy given the iconic situation.

Another lovely Christmas in Topsham!

Welcoming and friendly owners. A Christmas tree in the apartment! Full-size oven to cook Christmas dinner. Great cafe downstairs. Plenty of room for 2 people - good bathroom, attractively furnished apartment, sofa, TV, dining table and chairs. Centrally located in Topsham so close to river/estuary walks, restaurants, pubs, antiques centre and shops. Looking forward to doing it all again next Christmas with hopefully several more visits before then too.

The stairs are steep (the building is old) so we had to be very careful when carrying the turkey downstairs to take to our family Christmas dinner.

The only issue is the parking situation as although it’s free from 6pm - 8am it means paying quite a lot out of those hours ( and waking up before 8 to pay !) Still that is not the fault of the property

The. staff were friendly and helpful, the apartment was very well equipped and comfortable and the cafe breakfast was outstandingly good.

Wonderful town and Apartment

Location was very central, situated above the Route2 Cafe. It was very quiet and if you eat in the café, you received a 10 per cent discount. The food in the café was lovely. The apartment was the smaller one, but had everything you needed. Lots of hot water in the shower and the bed was very comfortable and slept very well. We parked in the car park opposite, and just had to top up parking each morning, which wasn't a problem. All restaurants easy to get too.

Convenient and scenic

Great location

The carpets were very stained, probably worth investing in hard flooring, also was woken up at 0630 both morning by slamming doors and barking dogs. The kitchen was a bit tired, one of the velux windows was broken. A room with an estuary view could do with clean windows to look out of! On a plus- Bathroom and toilet was lovely and fresh and clean. Food in route 2 was really yummy.

The apartment was spacious with everything you’d need for a great stay. Breakfast was amazing, great choice and quality was excellent.

Double bed is small for 2 adults and was a bit soft for our liking but still slept ok

It was roomy, had all the required facilities and in an excellent location.

The only quibble is that the sofa was not as comfortable as we would have liked. It had a very deep sitting area which made it difficult for us to find a comfortable sitting position. This will not prevent us coming back.

Brilliant place to stay if you want to be in the heart of Topsham

Location and value

Our room was directly above the cafe kitchen so there was early morning noise and cooking smells, nothing you wouldn’t expect but it did get us going in the morning!. It was high season when we stayed so windows open and the buzz of a nearby pubs in the evening.

Not so much like as problem-free – friendly person was there, handed over the keys and explained everything.

It was explained that it was important, understandably, for security that both doors (to access the building) were ensured to be closed. That was straightforward with the second door but the first (external) door needs fixing. We tried various gentle/forceful methods to get that door to click closed but it appears to be broken.

Lovely rooms and setting, needs a few tweaks.

Lovely view and setting, near the river. Close to local shops and places to eat. Surprisingly spacious rooms and simply but nicely decorated. Beds were comfy, slept well in both rooms. Nice to have a toilet and bathroom separate. Shower hot and powerful, lovely. Appreciated help with luggage to top floor apartment Haldon. Staff friendly and helpful.

Although warned about steepness of stairs, they were so steep and very difficult to climb up and with luggage too, we struggled. 61yr old and 30 Yr old. (But as already said, the shop girls were kind enough to help.) We couldve benefitted from a mirror in the double bedroom as the small table face mirror wasnt big enough for me to dry and style my hair. A small bin in the bedrooms would've been nice. The microwave definitely needs replacing as it not only sounded on its last legs, it was completely rusty inside and looked awful! Also, finally the sky window in the lounge wouldnt shut and the sash window in the twin room, was impossible to shut. Fortunately weather was warm and mostly dry and didn't affect the stay at all.

Overall the apartment was clean.

The soft furnishings in the bedroom needed laundering. For example the cushion cover and throws needed a freshen up. As the apartment we stayed in was directly over the kitchen- there were some cooking odours that could be smelt in the apartment. The carpets had staining to them. The bedding was clean though.

Lovely stay in a wonderful estuary town

Fantastic location and great use of space in such an old historic building. Love the recent refurbishment too! It's great to have the cafe downstairs and both indoor and outdoor areas are lovely. We have already booked another stay at Route 2 later in the year.

The weather was very hot but that's not Route 2's fault! Thankfully there was a fan for us to use. The stairs might be a challenge for the less mobile.

Fantastic stay at Route 2!

Spacious really comfortable apartment in a great location right next to the quay in Topsham. Really friendly helpful hosts too. Very close to many pubs and restaurants, with a fantastic cafe for breakfast downstairs.

Nice location but needs a concession on the parking

Key collection was easy and we were shown to the room but no offer to help with cases, the room was good and the kitchen had all you would expect ...

The stairs to the rooms are very narrow and very steep we struggled to get the cases to the room and it was a hard ship to climb the stairs after a day out. The advertise in the booking com website that they have parking, they do not have parking and you have to park on double lines to get your key an drop off your bags/cases. Once you have done this you have to move to a pay and display carpark, which cost us £5 on the first day, the parking is free after 6pm to 8am the next morning so if you want to have breakfast in the room or in the cafe you will have to get a parking ticket( min 2 hours £3.60}. I you arrive back at 5:15 and park you will be charged £3.60 for the 45 mins parking. In the days we were there we had to spend nearly £35 to park,

Above a cafe. Cafe kitchen opens directly into stairwell. Smell of frying particularly in morning. Our window was directly above kitchen extractor fan vent. Double bed a little on the small side. A few more hanging hooks on backs of door etc would be useful.

Lovely, warm, cosy clean with superb breakfast! in Topsham

Two nights in this lovely apartment, clean, cosy with every faculty you could need. Well equipped and bright. Comfortable bed and great shower. Car park 5 minutes walk and easy to book by app. Didn’t watch TV so don’t know about internet connection, but seemed okay for us. Cafe downstairs was added plus, two amazing breakfast were had, food to die for and super friendly and efficient staff. great bonus in having 10% off if you stay there. Plenty of places to eat at night. Great to walk on the estuary trail and then get the train back as plenty of services. There was a mix up when we arrived as our booking wasn’t registered, but from the reviews I believe that this wasn’t a regular occurrence. Also Ben in the cafe was super efficient and apologetic in getting us another room, so no complaints. I would definitely stay here again.
