Fifteens of Swinley

Well and calm situated in the city.

Room I had first, mould and water on the windows, couldn’t open, no air conditioning, smelling bad. Next room, old and in need of renovation, too, was better. Very thin walls, can hear everything from the neighbours. No room service in 5 days.

I wanted to thank the staff for his help. The gentleman helped me launch the Internet with great commitment.

Clean, warm, comfortable, quiet, except for…

…maybe a water pump which would make a loud noise about every hour even at night! Rooms were numbered, but when I booked I was apparently given Pemberton room, so the guy at the bar told me I hadn’t booked at Swinley, but at their Pemberton pub, so I’d have to drive 15 minutes away! Good job I rechecked my booking because I WAS booked at Swinley, but apparently the name of the room was Pemberton. Daft! Just go by room numbers, Booking.com!!

Staff were friendly but management did leave them in the lurch when faced with a problem.

When it was established that there was no hot water or heating we were told we would have to leave if we wanted a refund. It was 8.30pm and we really felt like we were put into a position of being sent away. Staff on site tried to fix the issue but no manager was available as they were too "busy" elsewhere.

The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean the bar at night was well stocked and the staff were very accommodating

There is no way to get from the bar to the room so we had to go outside to into my room. When we got up to the room the smell in the corridor was horrendous and is probably caused by damp and extremely off putting i feel like this is something that can easily be fixed When in my room the television remote did not work but there is TVs in the bar so this wasn't a big problem for me The shower head drips non stop after turning it off however replacing the shower head for a larger one will stop the dripping. There was only one cushion on the bed and i would expect two cushions for the price paid for the room I would also like to have a hairdryer with a functional radiator or clear instructions on how to use it When checking out I had no idea where to put my room keys and again this can be rectified with a clear sign To sum up the whole place needs a lick of paint with some modernised amenities and equipment and I would be happy to give a 8 or 9

Great location

Great location on the edge of the town with other good pubs around and a short stroll into Wigan. Ideal for ourGroups visit to Haydock Races and a night out after in Wigan Very helpful staff who accommodated leaving out bags as an early check-in. Rooms are clean and comfortable with TV. Nice hot shower.

The place is a bit dated but not an issue for us. Car Parking is not available. You can park for an hour free or pay for an hour at one just up the road. Further away you can pay on the street for 4 hours then it’s free from 5pm. Currently free parking in Wigan car parks at the weekend with a couple 5 minutes walk away.

Having stayed in the main building rooms, and Doctits surgery rooms this was what I expected. But needs a bit of maintenance etc. Soap in shower had run out. But plenty at the sink. Towel rail loose at one end. Needs fixing before it breaks. Otherwise 100% OK.

I didn't like the number of bedbugs I saw in the bed with me when I woke in the morning. They were crawling over me during the night and there were spots of blood all over the sheet where I had squashed the little blood suckers while sleeping. The bed was infested, absolutely disgusting!This accommodation should not be habitable or advertised in Booking.com

There was nothing to like, I was shut out and had to find alternative accommodation.

My flight to the UK was diverted and it was going to be a struggle to get to Wigan before the 10pm check in deadline. I was reassured when told I could check in at the pub below the rooms up to 10.30pm. I arrived at 10.20 but the pub was already closed. I was told the next day the pub had closed around 9.30pm. Both me, a fellow traveller also shut out and the pub staff across the road tried the phone the contact numbers, no reply.

Nice quirky place. Staff friendly and pleasant. Good location.

A little pricey for what it offered.

The price

Although the price was cheap you really get what you pay for. I would stay there again but my wife certainly wouldn’t, it was somewhere to lay your head. I was told about parking to the left of the hotel but when I got there you were only able to park for 1 hour, not any good when staying overnight and no where near the car.

Incredibly good value but you do get what you pay for. Very basic accommodation but clean and ideal for a cheap overnight stay. I needed to collect a motorbike in the morning so basic facilities was all I needed. No food available at the Fifteens but the sister pub (Royal oak) did a good pub menu with a couple of veggie options and it's only 5 minutes walk away. The decor was very Marmite, I actually really liked it. Great to see a different approach and some very bold colours and finishes, quite impressive! Overall very pleased with the value and service.

There were a few interesting smells emanating from somewhere as we climbed the stairs to my room but once inside it was fine. The TV was minute! Maybe a 15" screen to watch from 20 feet away. Luckily I was tired so it wasn't too important but a bit of a pointless offering.

Room was not fit for purpose as bed was infested with bed bugs. I was not able to sleep in the bed and no phone number available to contact anyone. I couldn’t leave the place until 4:30am as had nowhere to go until the station opened at 5am. Messaged property twice on Saturday morning (26th) with info & requesting refund. Have messaged again (30th) & still no response.

It’s was close to town centre cheap drinks and a lovely old pub staff were very friendly

Really really noisy it seemed like the hotel was full of people off the street playing really loud music until early hours of the morning both nights of our stay , hotel is defo not the right one for couples needing a quiet break away , more for young gangs going clubbing

The lady is a great host made us feel right at home - very pleasant - staff brilliant after a long 12 hour shift nice to to hotel that is relaxing - come back from work and having pint in bar

Like it's location stayed many times before Was cheap enough to stay just for a sleep.

The music banging in the morning at 9 am not sure if was inside the hotel or to the back but it sounded loud and woke me up. The curtain rail whe up opened it came off the rail and it let a lot of sunlight through. Could do with black out curtains. And stronger light bulbs for the corridor outside the room.

Nice accomendation close to the city center. You check in at the pub beside and staff follow you and showed the room. The room was nice and clean.

It was a little bit expensive.

We arrived early but we were shown right to our room, friendly welcome from the proprietor who was very helpful, location excellent, our room excellent, this hotel could not be faulted and would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again.

The room was massive, clean and good value for money, great location and staff were very friendly.

The only slight negative is the macerating loo which makes a bit of a racket when flushed, but honestly not a problem after a couple of minutes.

The bed was really comfortable and the room clean. I found the décor was really unique. It felt really bohemian, vintage and slightly haunted at the same time wich I loved. It was a really fun stay with everything I could need and the service / pub was friendly and local. Plenty of storage across the room and a quiet location where I had the window open all evening with no issues at all.

One of the antique pictures was quite mouldy (not pictured ) which worried me at first but it was all behind the glass. The loo also growled once flushed for a long while on and off randomly which did startle me on the occasion. Otherwise a pleasant perfect stay.

Location

A room should at least offer a comfortable good night's sleep - this 'boutique room' didn't. The mattress was not fit for purpose. I felt every spring within it! I have pains in my knees, hips, back, shoulders and rib area. Simple solution....spend some money and upgrade the sleeping experience.

Only one pillow, I could have resolved this easily enough but didn't fancy asking for a pillow in the bar on a Saturday night
