Good central location, spacious room and nice bathroom with underfloor heating. Enjoyed our stay! Nice little touch of the tea/coffee station. Great base to see York!
The property could do with a little TLC in places, particularly the paintwork and the dated wardrobe in the room we stayed. Unfortunately, our initial booking was cancelled because we weren’t notified via booking.com in time about a message from the property stating the room was no longer available. We were given a limited window to respond, but the booking was cancelled before we even saw the message, which was frustrating. When I called to query this, the reception staff were initially quite rude. We ended up rebooking, but at an additional cost of £30. During the rebooking process, the reception team were not particularly helpful, although Booking.com provided excellent support. That said, once we arrived and stayed at the property, the staff we encountered in person were pleasant and welcoming.

Very central and a characterful property.
Bed was so hard and I found it uncomfortable. Room on top floor with attic style window and very low ceiling.

Location superb no breakfast available no need plenty places nearby to eat , comfort bed, and toilet shower area superb, great style of decor in bedroom, all the items hairdryer tv. coffee making etc. all you need ok. Staff were super and helpful.
Well where to start? It needed a bit of paint job in our room black marks on the wall, paint coming of the window ledges ,cupboard door handle broken, TV remote well worn buttons made hard work using tv. Our room overlooked the Court yard and the alleyway from the street , nobody told us it was the main delivery to a pub and hotel thru the yard and side ally, passed our rooms for bins and barrels . Wanted to have a lay in after 2 lovely evenings, 2 mornings, Thu-Fri . arrived Wed to leave Fri. BUT ! Thur. morning 7.00 am , man arrived to move beer barrels in the court yard the noise was ballistic our bedroom shook It sounded so bad , 1 hour later it stopped, by then we were stressed, Not very good start at all. Just to rub salt in the wound ,the following Fri. morning at 6.00 am. the council green Big bins were moved across the courtyard, again the noise was unbelievable, then the green bins for rubbish 7.00 am arrived same noise again, I think this would put anybody booking this so called 4 star hotel, if they new about this . I feel sorry for the staff they tried to explain, and said this is how it is , well the owner should try to sort this out, the courtyard also looks awful very scruffy , looks like a council recycling yard. I will say we had a great time in York, but would have enjoyed it even better , but for the noise and outlook .
