I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Everything was perfectly taken care of: the room and common areas were very clean and well-maintained, which immediately made me feel comfortable upon arrival.
The atmosphere in the hotel is very მშვიდ and relaxing, making it an ideal place to truly unwind. I was traveling alone, and I felt completely at ease throughout my stay.
One thing I especially appreciated was the excellent communication. Even when I arrived later than expected, everything was handled smoothly and professionally, which made the whole experience stress-free.
Another big plus for me was that dogs are welcome. It’s great to know you can travel with your pet and still enjoy such a high level of comfort.
Overall, a perfect hotel where cleanliness, comfort, and tranquility come together. I would definitely recommend it!
As for downsides, I honestly couldn’t find any during my stay.

I booked online late and checked in even later. Still everything was taken care of at arrival. Got a nightkey to a spacious and nicely furbished room, and yes everything was neat and clean. The roomrates are reasonable.
Though I really could use some extra assistance shortly after I checked out in the morning, But no, during the day no personal reception services are available. Only cleaning ladies not letting me in.
My personal internet crashed/failed shortly after I checked out. So I returned to Ochsen Hotel and wanted to book an extra night to use their internet again, but no receptionstaff to make arrangments with. So without google maps I could not even find my targeted delivery adress in Friesenheim, no email to lookup a local phone number (to call to pick me up), asking people on the streets for global directions. The latter worked in the end. I felt quite stressed and miserable though, as travelling and arranging things without a working internet connection is almost impossible nowadays. I had to improvise and did what people did in the pre-internet times: find and buy myself the physical roadmaps for Germany and Netherlands to chart my way and drive home. From the NL Border internet would pick up again, I arrive safely home, mission completed.
It was a warning and a lesson for me: How dangerously dependent I am from mobilephone and internet connection. That is not Ochsen's fault at all.
I was too late for breakfast and have no opinion about the quality. In general breakfasthours are mainly for the early risers and evening/nightpeople like me (too) often miss out and waste the money. Set me back eur 10.

This hotel is such a lovely place to stay. The rooms are clean and they have a lovely restaurant where you can have a nice meal. The 10 euro buffet breakfast is wonderful.

We did not feel welcomed at all. We received a key in our hand we the only comment - you have already paid your stay! Very unfriendly - the staff in general just seemed very uninterested. Only one friendly person at breakfast we met same at the checkout! The rooms have poor sound proofing. You really get the impression they want you to miss breakfast ( probably because it is included) as they don’t give you any information that breakfast is sharp only 1 hour from 7:30-8:30! Felt a like a military stay…. We won’t recommend this hotel at all
