The staff was very friendly and very helpful and polite. Was close to most things in town as good location and I got on with all that was staying there so no problems and would stay again. many thanks, Coby

The location was central, and it felt reasonably secure with the key card system. The lounge area was quiet, and the wifi was good.
The smell, the noise, the shabby feel of it all. The kitchen was disorganized, cluttered, and unclean; I didn't feel comfortable using it at all. The showers were cramped and the water temp couldn't be adjusted. Lots of noise late into the night. Would not recommend or choose to stay here again.

Toilet weee sometimes dirty due to person not cleaning up after use

I’ve stayed here a few times, and the staff are always really friendly.
Unfortunately, as it is a music venue, the rooms can be quite noisy at night.

Location.
Confusion with people who shouldn’t have been given a key to my room, but somehow had? Very odd.
8.0 / 10.0
Very central and room spacious
Kitchen, although big can sometimes be unclean mainly from people staying there, they need to implement some rules for cleanliness
9.0 / 10.0
Friendly staff, friendly people, location
Cleanliness was acceptable, though not exceptional
1.0 / 10.0
It’s location, accessible and walking distance to city centre
It’s too loud, noisy as it’s above the bar.
3.0 / 10.0
the receptionist was incredibly sweet and genuine
idk not being homeless and on the street was good
big lockers for your stuff
basically a prison for the unstably-housed
sagging mattress messed up my back
sound bleed from the street outside means I got no sleep even with earplugs in
kitchen disordered and dirty
common room poorly-lit and sticky and the arcade game didn't work
extortionate laundry prices
reception phoneline barely ever manned

- I liked the location very much. was stupidly close to everything that's interesting.
- Laptop working area was ok.
- Bedsheets were clean and matress was comfortable.
- I liked the fact that it had a bowling alley and pizza downstairs, but I actually never got to try the pizza because of how early they close the kitchen, nor did I get to make bowling friends there to bowl with.
- Also this turned out to be a quite downside as I mention below.
- No hot or even warm water in the shower (were lukewarm at best, although the kitchen tap water was quite hot).
- No soap to wash hands in the toilets, which were also poor quality and unclean.
- The place stank almost all the time.
- Poorly arranged.
- Reception is almost never occupied.
- Check in only until 7pm. otherwise they can leave the key at the bar, but then it's only until the bar closes (could be as early as 11pm). if your flight is late, you're simply screwed.
- Music from the bar downstairs was -unnecessarily- loud and bass heavy, so even if I put earplugs or earbuds the bed was still vibrating. I was occasionally at the bar. it was too loud down there too. just distasteful and inconsiderate. and lasts until 2-3am in weekends.
- Streat was also quite noisy, window was ok at blocking most of it, but then the air was stale.
- AC sockets of top bunk was only reachable through the bottom bunk, and the bottom ones were unreachable, and I hear that in the larger room some beds simply don't have sockets to begin with.
- No night-lights / shelf / curtain.
- "Lockers" were underbed baskets and you have to bring your own lock / buy one in town.
- Communal space wasn't very friendly, and is at the same sapce as the work room, which is sub optimal for both usecases.
- Not many travelers there. more like people who came for work, or people who don't have other arrangements.
All in all, one of the worst hostels I've been to, both in terms of facilities, and in atmosphere.
Though I should mention it's the _only_ one I've been to in England, and first one in 2 years in general.
It sure used to be much more fun, cozy, and cost less.

I just always love Rock and Bowl.
Leaving. Although the lighting in lounge is poor. Because many regular long termers. Don't like the main light on. VERY cold even in September. Yet I'm still planning on returning New Year's Eve.

The staff were friendly. The room had good warm bedding. The card locks made going in and out of both the main door and the bedroom secure.
The place was cold and dirty. The bedroom light didn't work. The kitchen was big, dirty and messy and the lounge was old, dirty and messy. Please be aware that it is not a typical hostel with usual hostel etiquette for people using it for leisure. My room was full of women who had no where else to stay. Full of bags, suitcases etc holding all their possessions. They would come in and out at all times of night, depending on their shifts and happily put lights on, as they rummaged through their bags and cases. I got zero sleep even with earplugs and eye masks. People obviously stay there long term as the kitchen was full of fridges and people carrying in weeks worth of shopping to put in them in massive boxes.
It is a place people call home and because of that, hostel manners and etiquette go out of the window. The place is large and full all day, with people with no where else to go. Booking needs to make sure this is clear on the website.

The building is a weird shape and in a hill so it all feels kinda sprawling in a way I would expect in a description of a fae realm. You can look out of two different windows and be on a different floor without touching a set of stairs, or go down stairs and look like you're on the floor you just left. There are doors of different sizes right next to each other which adds to the uncanny vibe.
The kitchen was large and seemed to be well equipped for cooking and the communal living area was nice if a little run down.
I forgot to take a padlock with me for the under bed cages but felt safe enough leaving my things there when I went out.
I would have liked to have a toaster in the kitchen.

I refused to stay at this place, I booked it aware of all the bad reviews, but the reality exceeded what I read before. It took me 30 minutes to check in. Some of the staff were grumpy and not helpful at all, others were nice but not interested in assisting you. The place is an old building, serving as an active venue, they are clear with that but don't mention that the windows are single glazed and the shape of the building leaks all the sound to the rooms. This old industrial windows also make the rooms be cold all the time. The smell of the entire place is dodgy, but disgusting once inside the rooms, not to mention the stinky bedding. There is no place inside the rooms to keep your luggage or even a small bag, instead they have limited lockers with a £10 deposit. The lack of toilets is another not-minor-issue, it's nearly 1 toilet for 40-50 people. I honestly wonder how is this place open, considering it lacks of many minimum aspects, even for a hostel there is a bear minimum.

The common room was nice, with table tennis, good kitchen, great staff, and comfy beds
One of the bathrooms was often shut in the morning, the noise level on a weekend is not ideal for sleeping, and dirt on bathroom and shower flowers

Good location and felt reasonably safe.
The place is absolutely filthy, I saw mice in the kitchen.
It's not really a backpackers as there a lot of people actually living there.

I loved every bit! The rooms were so clean and the bathrooms were so hygienic. I also grew quite fond of the staff in my few short days at the hostel. I wasn’t there long but boy did I have fun! Would strongly recommend this hostel to anyone thinking of a budget friendly trip to Bristol

The bed is comfortable.
There was a lot of noise during the night, including loud sounds from doors and a pub underneath. There is no one at the reception as well.

Great location! Great value for money. Beds in male dorms were so comfortable!! Easy check in. Kept to myself and had no issues. If you're not too fussy about cleanliness and privacy, it's a really good cheap option. Enjoyed my stay and would stay again.
No curtains on beds, shortage of towels with other residents taking them off the beds. Small cage under bed had a broken padlock latch so couldn't padlock easily - bought a large padlock to go through bars so was okay in the end.

Nothing to like
Lots of rats inside the room
Toilets were not cleaned properly.
All the flatmates are Racists.
I don't recommend this place.

Not really
Everything about it. Corridors and room were a bit smelly. Kitchen was most dirty and unhygienic I'd ever come across. Environmental Health would have closed it down. Place was full of foreign gig workers. There was someone who slept on couch in communal room and his food and socks were on floor, very off putting. I paid nearly £49 for two nights, which I think was too much for a right dive like this place. Would not recommend.
