friendly staff & good location/ poor cleaning service

The staff is very friendly. The location is good, on short walking distance from the city center. the parking under the hotel is convenient. The bed is comfortable, bedsheets and bathroom was very clean.

During both days of my stay in the hotel, my room was not cleaned. The floor needed to be vacuum-cleaned. The first day, when came back to the room late afternoon and noticed that the room was not cleaned / bed was not made, I informed the reception. They told me they would pass on the message to the "housekeeping". The next morning, the housekeeping did bring clean towels. I told them I'll leave soon and then the room can be cleaned. However, when I came back to my room in the evening, the room was not cleaned again. I complained to the reception, they did offer me another room and brought clean cups and teabags. As I was leaving the next morning, I didn't accept the offer. When staying at a hotel, one expects that the room is cleaned every day!

Not a lot of staff on duty but they were great. Davis and Pierre especially helpful.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and beds comfortable.

Mould in the shower. Lack of vegetarian option at dinner. No black tea or tonic water for the three days we were there.

I'd stay here again

Friendly staff. Clean hotel. First time in a Campanile. It was clean, fresh and modern. Excellent breakfast. 15 minute walk to the old town and slightly less to Westfields.

Parking is €13. I parked on the street for free. Just do check with the receptionist that there are no restrictions in place during your stay.

A little bit of extra care needed here.

Comfortable bed, quiet at night, close to the Old Town and station, parking for a reasonable daily fee.

We had an accessible bathroom ( not requested) water floods everywhere, signs of past flooding on ceiling from rooms above and carpet in our room. We had to shower in our son’s room next door. His hairdryer not working. No refrigerators in rooms ( we have food allergy/intolerance so carry some of our own food). Breakfast is ok for European taste ( croissant /pastries) but fruit salad watery mainly juice with very sparse fruit, no bacon and no flavored yoghurts on Sunday. Gluten free bread only available one day. Cereals not restocked another day. Staff trying to do cleanup and reception at the same time! No dinner service on Fri Sat or Sun evening despite Friday menu advertised outside and inside hotel. Understaffed ( not their fault) and during the busy TDF grand depart period for the higher prices the extra restocking and staffing should have been expected and executed.

I don’t really like the hotel, but staff is trying to do their best. Breakfast doesn’t seem to worth the money. We decided not to pay extra and eat in the old town. Location is ok, but you have to walk to old town.

It’s a pleasant hotel to rebook

Very close to the city centre, the staff are very friendly and caring. Breakfast was amazing, multiple choices. It has secure garage, therefore safety of your vehicle is guaranteed.

The restaurant is closed for dinner and lunch from Friday till Sunday( weekends). The back door leading to the garage/carpark is not secure. Anyone can come in and go out without a badge and there is no one to monitor.

The staff is friendly, the rooms are basic, but fine and I had a good deal. Location is fine, and there are possibilities to park private or on the street. Good for 1 night.

Exceptional

A very pleasant stay, so glad we made this choice for our stay in Lille! The property is ~15 mins walk to the city center and ~10 mins to the railway station so it was just perfect for a weekend. I cannot start to express how lovely the staff is, they're super helpful and go beyond their duties to make sure you're a happy guest! Rich and varied breakfast, cleanliness, comfy beds and quiet rooms are just some of the pluses of our stay, if we're ever back to Lille we're totally booking this again!

Great value and comfortable stay

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby area was nice and my room was good sized, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding. Location was a bit of a walk from the train station and city center, which I knew when I booked and did not mind; there is a tram nearby that I did not check out as well as a bike share station that I did use.

- Breakfast!! :) There was a loooot of options, even varied during the days of our stay. - Staff was nice and really helpful. - For us the location was perfect: Lille city center is 10 min walk (even closer than Google maps shows), easy connection to Roubaix. - We could store our bikes

- It was oky, but overally cleanness could improve a bit. - Room equipment was very basic: e.g. no wardrobe, no shower courtain, etc.

Nice hotel, isolated incidences of very poor customer service front of house .

The facilities and room were good with nice food. Tastefully decorated and relaxing environment.

On arrival I was told that the room would be ready at a certain time and they were not. I was then given a room and when I took my cases to the room it was obvious that the previous customer had only just left as beds were unmade, bin full of rubbish and wet towels on the floor. I went back to reception, no apology just blamed the computer and was then given another room. On entering the second room it was just the same, unmade beds someone had recently vacated, rubbish and towels. Not very happy by this time made even worse by the receptionist/managers attitude which frankly stank. No apology and had the cheek to say there were no more rooms available as if it was my problem. Clearly expected to sleep in my car. Made my feeling known until by some "miracle" another room on a different floor was suddenly available which was fine and as it should be. Such a shame because this is a nice affordable hotel with a nice restaurant and a simple straightforward menu. Two ladies involved on the day which was Monday 6th March. Couldn't believe the attitude and the lack of service from them both. Additionally, be warned that there are stairs to the underground car park. We were led to believe that your room card enables the lift to go to bottom which it does not. We were not told about the stairs until we complained that the damn cards didn't work. Again, she clearly didn't give a damn and attitude was awful. Don't get me wrong, the other staff we came across were very helpful and polite and very forgiving of our terrible French and I would recommend them. The food was excellent and the environment very satisfactory. If someone could provide both staff with some lessons in customer service then it would be useful. Travelling 4.5hrs across France to be on the recieving end of poor customer service is not on!
