It feels like those organised school trips

The room was neat and tidy, it had a lavatory with mirror, a table with lamp, a nightstand, a neat little wardrobe for your coat and a comfortable bed. The heating is very easy to adjust, and you can set the temperature to your liking. There are also towels. The location is SUPERB, literally 5 minutes walk from every sight. Oh, and there's a washing machine and a dryer in the basement for the guests to use.

There was ZERO soundproofing and you could hear everything that happened on the corridor and in the neighbouring rooms. There is a seemingly very strict rule of silence between 10pm and 7am, but this is a Youth Hostel and youth tends to be quite immune to such regulations. I even wrote a complaint after not being able to sleep for a night - they didn't even bother to respond. There is no lift, and if you are obese, you might find the size of the shovers troubling. (Also, there was only 1 bathrooms with 2 toilets and 2 shower cabins for 14 rooms on my floor.)

Nice place, but creaking bed

This is a nice place to stay very centrally located in Trier, if you don't mind lots of stairs to reach your room. The rooms are small and simple, but have everything you need, and even your private sink.

Two things made me sleep badly. First, no curtains at all, and the light from across the courtyard meant the room wasn't as dark as I'd like. Second, the bed springs were very creaky and woke me up every time I turned around. Hanging up some curtains and applying some WD40 to the springs would really be a good idea.

Top location at reasonable price

Top city location. Small single room, but it was ok. Bed comfortable, heating good and great view from room in 3rd floor on city. Good lightening with reading lamp. 2 toilets and showers on floor, but more were one floor down.

Bring a book or other entertainment !! No TV and wifi was extremely poor on 3rd floor. On and off and very weak. Need own mobile internet For rooms in 3rd floor must walk up many steps, but well, it keeps us fit.

The pipelines are having loud sounds and I can hear when people live next my room is using the washbasin throughout the nights and morning. The room soundproofing s also not so good

Excellent place

The location is great in the center, but I enjoyed the silence and birdsong when I woke up in the morning. The room is cozy, the bed is comfortable. There is everything you need. Everything is clear! It is possible to have tea in the dining room at any time. Thank you to everyone who gives us the opportunity to stay with you.

Comfortable Stay in Trier

Comfy room, good showering facilities and great location.

The reception does not actually open until 3pm. I arrived around 2:45pm and although there was someone staffed at the reception who saw me when I arrived, I was not let in. Further, I wanted to leave my luggage in the hostel the next day for a few hours after check-out, but because no-one is staffed at reception, it meant that I would not be able to acces my luggage until 3pm (as I would no longer have a key). I ended up paying for luggage storage at the train station as I had to leave Trier before 3pm. It is a shame that there is not a more convenient solution to this issue at the hostel.

I arrived after 10 pm because of a delay and the front desk was closed and no one was there which was not ideal. Fortunately other tenants let me in and then buildings nightshift worker completed the check in. The process could have been better.

Nice comfortable room and very quiet. Not the easiiest place to find and quite a long walk from the railway station but in an area full of restaurants.

I do prefer to stay in places where breakfast is available (but that was clear when I booked - so I can't complain).

Pleasant

Nice location closed to the city center. You can work around to visit many old buildings.

We booked three single rooms, only one room has the towel, and the service center only work in afternoon, so two of us didn't have the towel in the first day. Also, no breakfast, no luggage locker.

price, location, THE STAFF (all the front desk employees, the cleaning staff, the manager), flexibility, safety, everything. i loved kolping hostel. it's perfect for what it is meant to be - accessible affordable shelter. they take all the cleanliness and covid precautions.

honestly, please don't change anything. i just wish there were more places like this with comparable prices. similar youth hostels typically require a membership. i did not read the story about kolping until recently. good dude, i think he would be happy to know it's still serving his mission well.

The receptionist was friendly. The safety measures at this Corona time are followed and maintained appropriately. The location is center of the city where hotels, bars, tourist attractions can be reached within minutes.
