The location was splendid - less than two minutes' walk from the restaurant that we had booked for dinner - and having free parking so close to the centre of the City was hugely advantageous. The owner, Mark, was very friendly and extremely helpful.
Because of the location, it was quite noisy in our room (which faced onto Gillygate), but the owners couldn't really do anything about the noise without moving the hotel! Some aspects of the room were a little dated and the pillows were very flimsy.

Superb location, excellent value for money, very attentive and helpful staff, would stay again if going to York
Car park was very difficult to get into and could easily have been blocked by other guests

The host was patient on the phone when we checked in. He left the code for us to go straight to our room. We had parking.
The room was dated, and there were some visible cob webs. The tv was in an awkward position, although we only watched it shortly. The bed mattress was old and too springy.
