We had a wonderful stay at The Sands Khao Lak. The service was excellent, and the facilities were great—including Thai boxing, tennis, a well-organized kids’ club, a kids’ pool area, and a beautiful beach. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and comfortable, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

The only downside for us was the breakfast, which was fine but not very exciting. The juices in particular tasted artificial, as if they were made from concentrates rather than fresh fruit.

Overall a great stay and will try their resort at Phuket next time, to save on the travel.

Staff were amazing and very helpful. Pool area for kids were great and had them occupied all day. Staff at the kids club were very nice and welcoming. Rooms were very spacious, the cleaning staff kept them to a very high standard.

The breakfast buffet was very good and had a great selection. But the cold meats and cheese were not chilled enough for the humidity in the buffet area. Some of the food like baked beans were not kept at a hot enough temperature. I definitely had food poisoning from the breakfast on my 3rd day.

Easy family holiday in Khao Lak

All you need for a family break in Khao Lak. Good pool options, good room options, easy tours, good staff and close to the beach. Excellent breakfast too.

They make you download an app which is useful for information but is a little confusing. I’d you can order things for your room like towels but there is a non-digital way of getting your room cleaned. A bit confusing at times.

Lovely, kid and coeliac friendly resort!

Really comfortable, great facilities and kids club. Excellent for coeliacs - so accommodating! The beach is gorgeous and the pools are nice - the gym and other facilities were great. Would definitely recommend it!

The cocktails aren’t great but that was probably the only issue.

Perfect holiday with kids

We had a brilliant stay with our two kids under 3 in a swim up family room. Which was big, clean and had very comfortable beds. The gate to the pool made it easy to keep the kids safe. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly in particular Queen who went above and beyond to ensure our daughter had her dairy free breakfast everyday. Jane in the kids zone was amazing with the kids and Mua cleaned our room perfectly everyday - thank you. Would definitely recommend and visit again. Perfect for families.

Nice pool facilities and nice rooms for children. Very, very nice and helpful staff.

Children’s beds, baby crib as well as normal children sized beds have no mattresses, but rather a foam piece, air and water thight covered with some kind artificial leather. Children are swimming in sweat… Randomly, the restaurant decides if breakfast with children is allowed in the calm and nearly empty Manta Ray restaurant or only in the horror cave of main restaurant which is overcrowded, loud and so busy, that breakfast is no fun. I understand the wish to grant some adult only place, but sealing of an entire restaurant for that in a hotel full of families and by that exaggerating the drama in the main restaurant is a solution many families were taken aback by. Solution was individual complaints to the management to be granted an individual exception from that rule on a family by family basis. I breakfast is something you value having in peace, this is not your hotel. If you value your children not drowning in sweat, this is not your hotel.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful resort with great facilities.

The Sands is a beautiful resort in a wonderful setting. It offers great facilities with several lovely pools and a waterpark for the kids. There is a gym, daily activities, a tennis court and a spa ( with great massages near the beach at a reasonable cost). There are several bars, (some swim up) and three great restaurants. The food was great, abundant and varied - wonderful breakfast. The rooms were spacious and well-appointed, clean with good amenities. The resort is located close to the local town with varied shops and restaurants and nearby markets. Convenient location for participating in in tours of locak surrounds.

Please provide a few more indoor games for wet days.

Excellent rooms, fabulous breakfast (particularly the Adults Only area! ) and everything about the hotel represents excellent value for money. They're are plenty of other bars, restaurants and shops within a 5 min walk from the hotel.

Ideal for families with children

Great for children. The different pools were excellent for keeping them entertained. The room was very comfortable and well serviced daily. The breakfast had everything you could want and the evening dinner offered a buffet style experience which was also very good. The staff were all very friendly and thoughtful, which made our stay enjoyable. The resort is situated near to the local shops and amenities for exploring Thai life.

Something for everyone. A perfect beaching wedding venue.

Everything about my stay was beyond loveable. The week's stay was both well located to some fun activities but an oasis where every travel style was catered for. Exciting child's pool and club, adult quiet zoned pool and bars, private and general pool options, a range of eating and restaurant options. Its a spacious property and with a family outdoor wedding, the beautiful beach sunst venue, the staff service and setting was absolutely perfect, making my and all my extended family a trip of a lifetime. Not a negative of any sort from me.

Great for families

The kids' pool area is fantastic - very large with the lazy river, two water slides, sprinklers etc, plus fun water-gadget toys for hire, with a swim-up bar. Down towards the sea is a beautiful large pool that's great for kids too, but much more adult-focused. The rooms with pool access looked great.

We had two adjoining rooms and while they were fine, we were right at the back of the resort and they felt a bit tired. We wished we'd gotten organized sooner and booked a family room (we stayed in one at the Katathani in Phuket and it was great) or better yet a pool-access room. Compared to the family room we had in Phuket our room/s here in Khao Lak didn't have a smart TV (which is great when the kids need some down-time after a lot of pool action). The restaurant area for breakfast felt a bit like a big dining hall in comparison - maybe it's the clientele (lots of big groups). There's less to do around the resort area in Khao Lak so the resort felt a bit intense. Others seemed very happy though. Overall a good stay but we preferred the Phuket Katathani resort overall.

Beautiful resort that needs modernising.

The size and scale is great. The location was very pretty too with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The variety of pools means you can move around and have different types of experiences. The breakfast buffet was fresh and tasty and we enjoyed a couple of evening buffets too. The housekeeping staff are friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed watching the monitor lizards walk and swim around the lake.

Having been here 6 years ago, nothing much has changed. The vast menu of drinks rely heavily on sugar syrup and the lunch menus are uninspiring and ALL served with fries. The AC in the gym was not working for 80% of our visit and the equipment was as out dated. The humidity in the pool access was uncomfortable and could be easily helped with the installation of dehumidifiers. I’m also sorry to say that some staff we encountered were rude and unsmiling. There is a lack of drinking water fountains around the location (this is standard all around the world nowadays).

Fabulous resort will definitely stay again

The rooms were really clean. The app to order things was also fantastic. Loved the swim up bars in 2 locations. Room service was great. Staff were friendly.

The kids slides only being open at certain times. No pool towel concierge. I hated having to carry 4 towels back and forth from the pool every day with 2 young kids.
